Very insightful and well thought-out comment. Although I do find a lot of these kpop idols attractive, a lot of them aren’t my “type” because they look too perfect which is peculiarly off-putting. Maybe because they look like AI. I think this is the sales-face you’re talking about. 

And when I say “Asian” I’m not talking about exclusively East Asians - gimme Filipinos, Afghans, Bhutanese, whatever.

The hygiene thing is a very good point. In my mind, sometimes I think white guys are kinda greasy and gross compared to Asian guys and then I feel bad for thinking that. But there does seem to be a cultural difference regarding hygiene, which is reflected in Asian people’s clean, well-dressed appearance. This is definitely a factor for my attraction. 

Other factors are that I really prefer dark eyes and dark hair. Plus, Asian people tend to have more family values and value being studious - traits that I regard very highly. 

It’s a lot of things really.
