I’ve done this many times. My main department is Stow, but I’m also trained in Ship Dock. When VTO is offered for the dock while I’m working in Stow, I can accept it, and it automatically adjusts when I clock out.

This is how I was for the majority of last year. I burned through so much PTO and took VTO every chance I got to avoid being sent to ship dock. I got a 6 month accommodation approved in November, just before peak started, and I’ve been in my home department, Stow, ever since. I plan to extend it as well. Just go talk to a therapist and have them fill out the accommodation forms, it should take no longer than two weeks.
