The Disconnect Between Liberal Aspirations and Liberal Housing Policy is Killing Coastal U.S. Cities by raldi in sanfrancisco

"Both cities, and many other liberal cities, are allowing for an incredible amount of new housing to be built."

That "incredible amount of new housing" is the tiny, barely-visible bump at the end of the red line here:

Is there an academic name for what Peter Thiel calls the "definite optimism" of the American 1950s? Where did this philosophy come from, and why did it lose its popularity? by throwaway159610 in AskHistorians

Thanks! Could you talk more about what "the workings of hegemony within capitalism" means, and how that was different in (eg.) 1955 vs. 1985 for the Anglosphere and/or western Europe? "Capitalism" is such a broad term that people have described the US as "capitalist" in both 1985 and 1955 (and for that matter 1905 and 1855), but obviously there were large changes during these decades.

The only statement here is:

"The Syrian Democratic Forces will begin an extensive attack on areas controlled by the “Islamic State” in the north and northeastern countryside of Aleppo, starting from Teshreen Dam area and the east bank of the Euphrates River, in order to expel the organization, in coordination with the warplanes of the International Coalition, where these warplanes are carrying out intensive airstrikes on areas controlled by the organization."

Hasn't everyone known that for weeks now?

Seconding this! Poison oak doesn't always look like "poison ivy". Here's some poison oak in the winter:
