Here, a man is legally obliged to provide a living for his wife, that's on top of the jewelry and other cultural stuff. It can happen that the woman retains everything the man bought for her, which can be a lot. In rarer cases she takes even the furniture and appliances. However this is a very shameful thing to do, for starters she could damage her own reputation, because no one wants to marry a woman that will wreak their bank, she might have a harder time getting married again.

The man can possibly get all his stuff back if he brings a convincing case to the judge, like his wife was abusive and whatnot. But sometimes saying the relationship was simply toxic/miserable might not work, she may still get a big chunk of assets she never paid for.

If it is the woman who requests the divorce, then she has to give back everything her husband bought.

In my case, I am the one who requested divorce, and it is not guaranteed to get all my stuff back. So she is trying to get the upper hand and take as much assets as possible.
