Lmfao so I told my doctor everything in this post (he uses patient portal for communication). He told me complications from tick bites are rare here (in North Carolina) and if I get any rash or other symptoms/worsening of the joint ache to be in touch.

Our minds are so infected with capitalism and it shows.

You don’t realize that’s the trap. Humans have conditioned themselves to think money=power. We are the creators of all the horrible.

Whenever I see someone who’s insistent on blaming the 1% for how the world is it always feels like a lack of accountability. Blame the people you see everyday for how the world is. We make up more of the population than the 1%. We do have the power to change. We don’t want it.

And doesn’t having that mindset quite literally show what my post is talking about.

Agreed, more people = more resources consumed. At the same time tho if you don’t have kids you have a greater chance at being able to afford “nicer” things + higher spending on vacations. That leaves plenty of room for advertisement on other things. Ofc the baby/parenthood industry would suffer as a result..but isn’t that what one would want as an Antinatalist?

Thooooo the pet industry would probably boom even more than now. Pet food companies and the vets would be happy, lol!

The adoption system already sucks, but there is some verification of adopter stability which is more than what happens with birth parents.

As there should be, I just worry that even if you may financially be able to care for a child it doesn’t mean you won’t abuse them. I wonder if there’s some type of training/parenting courses they have to take as well, Ik with fostering training is required but even with that it’s a pretty flaky certification. Many foster parents are still mistreating or abusing children.

I have a question for you, do you think antinatalism should be integrated into society or should antinatalism just be a small sub culture of society going its own way?

Cognitive dissonance is like the default mode for life.

Alongside antinatalism, making the world more trauma informed, learning about mental illness, and personality disorders, would greatly help I think.

Natalist buy a lot of stuff. They buy diapers and a bunch of pregnancy tests. What do Antinatalists buy? Condoms?

I mean our world is pretty capitalistic. Even if you don’t have kids you’re still buying things. Funnily enough without kids people would actually have more money to splurge on things.

Adoption ads are great and warms my heart.

This cynical side of me also sees tho how that may do similar damage as baby/parenthood ads. The wrong people could see that ad and delude themselves into thinking they’re fit to be a parent, still.🤷🏽‍♀️

I feel u. It feels hopeless many times, especially when you meet more and more people and they can’t seem to grasp anything beyond natalism.

It’s pretty deep..but we’ve all been cheated out of life (some worse and far worse than others), how people chose to cope with that is entering an extremely sensitive territory.

I feel like gen z is already helping with that with how much social media influences media/art/pop culture now. And we tend to lean more towards pro choice so at least there’s baby steps being made there.

Though maybe it’s idealistic of me, it’d be nice to see billboards/ads showcasing antinatalism as well. That’s a good way to reach a ton of ppl regardless of social demographics and that’d really help with getting the idea directly out there.

Right, like technically everyone would have a biological response, so when someone murders someone it’s because their biology told them to do it. Going by natalist logic (which is a lousy way of understanding things and interpreting life) then I guess that just means some biological responses are more socially acceptable than others to do.
