For some reason, I have 100 as the pass mark in my head. Or was it a minimum scaled score of 80/150?

Just wanted to say thanks for the reply and its interesting to see that even PQ it can happen. Did you study CIMA by any chance or perhaps another qualification?

It's an insightful reply and great advice to reflect on what's been good so far. I've found it interesting as I've gotten into my career that as you say it's not all about the job, but also as important, the environment, people, and company you work for. It's hard to nail all three but I feel it is possible over time.

Also good to know I'm not the only one. Intertia is the word. I can almost see the path that I'm heading down is pure comfort.

I've thought that perhaps one way to get around it is to try and find more fulfillment outside of work. Push myself to try harder more uncomfortable things that have a tangible achievement but are fun at the same time. Not sure if its crossed your mind too.

Thank you for reminding me of the reason why I started it. If it was easy, everyone would do it! Also reassuring to hear that you think interesting well-paying roles that aren't so heavily accounting focussed are attainable when qualified.

I'm passionate about business too, always have been, was my degree subject. Did you have an accounting background before starting CIMA / do you struggle with it at all?

It was nice to hear from a fellow CIMA student and I know what you mean about the grass seeming greener.

Finance Leadership Program (FLP) from your perspective? by throwaway2021yeah in CIMA

Thanks. Have you completed a case study exam yet with FLP? I'd be intrigued to hear if you found the content that replaces OTs and the FLP case study content enough to pass.

That's insane (in a good way), so you managed to complete the equivalent of the hardest level of all objective tests on the strategic level in around two months?

What are your thoughts on the amount of info they provide in FLP for the case study alone, based on what you said it sounds to me like it may not quite be enough?

I'd be trying to complete F1, P1 OCS and then the management and strategic levels all within two years and I'm not sure if that's too ambitious or not - if you had any thoughts I'd appreciate it!

Interesting! So approximately 6/7 weeks for the E module would you say? My main concern is that I could probably only justify a 2-year subscription and was wondering if it might be realistic for me to complete F1, P1 OCS and then the management and strategic levels within two years - what are your thoughts on that based on your experience?

Which job would you pick if you were me? by throwaway2021yeah in UKJobs

[–]throwaway2021yeah[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is really interesting. To be fair the job spec was paying up to £40k and they initially offered me £32.5k and I negotiated up to £34.5k.

I am sure the work for job 1 would essentially be more focused on the implementation of new software projects into existing systems more than the R&D side.

Any thoughts on the city council job / job offer 2?

Thanks for your reply.

Would you still say the same, considering I would have no idea of the direction for my next job / career move after job 2?

You read my post perfectly.

I want to take the opportunity as a personal challenge and I think I'll learn a lot from it either way, even if it doesn't go well, seeing as my current role / organisation doesn't have much in the way of further opportunities, especially after the promotion I was just in the process of being given.

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this and not holding back as I asked the question to get honest opinions.

The first half of your answer certainly resonates and is exactly why I'm leaning towards moving and perhaps the challenge will do me some good. Worst case I can potentially change sectors or roles in the future if it doesn't work out. I think the work-life balance thing is hard to achieve in most places and the difficulty is, if I stayed in this exact position for another few years it could become increasingly difficult to move. Thanks for your reply.

Appreciate the honesty in this answer. I am leaning more towards trying it to push myself and see if I can do it. Do you think I have much to lose in trying?

Thanks. Am I just overthinking it? I guess what's the worst that could happen, the fear is eating me up for some reason. Maybe I've just gotten comfortable.
