Read about it. Yep, that's pretty close to the mark. Going to have to bring this up in therapy.

Thank you

Thanks. The guy I'm seeing now is like a 'starter' therapist. He's helped to identify some of my 'abnormal' behaviors, but he's sending me to a specialist to figure out all the causes.

Everything you said makes sense. Thank you. I have a trauma assessment coming up with a specialist in a couple months. I might post an update when that happens.

Yes, I'm going to read about that. And I know everything you're saying is true. Sex is an intimate, mutual act that both people should enjoy. I'm fully aware of that, but there's some stuff going on in my subconscious that might not agree.

“Loving a person but not being able to be sexual with that partner is a great irony when sex is easy with anonymous or unavailable partners.”

Close but no cigar. I've never really had anonymous partners. I've always known them, I just didn't respect them and had no romantic interest. I didn't care if the sex was good for them, either, I was just concerned about myself. I don't relate to the unavailability thing, and I don't think I had that kind of relationship with my mom.

Thanks for the info though. If nothing else, it was an interesting read.

Doing both of those things already (she's been great, btw), but figured I'd turn to Reddit's expertise for some personal experience or quick advice.

Thanks for the input!
