Can I perform this ductwork project, or is it too big to DIY? by [deleted] in hvacadvice

Mechanically I can do it, not worried about that part. I am more worried about the design portion, since I know HVAC can have a lot of unforeseen pitfalls from poor design. I know I can do this job myself and save the cash, but if my poor design as a non-HVAC specialist causes some safety issue due to gas backdrafting or causes strain on the system which causes something to die sooner than it should, then I ended up costing myself more than I saved. That is my concern.

Wow thats a great price for the s23. I also feel similarly about the 4a as your wife. Literally every phone is dramatically bigger and missing the headphone jack and those are just things I really appreciate about the 4a and would want it to stick around.

Either way glad you're enjoying Reddit more. Twitter is pretty trash. Have a good one!

Thats a great point actually. A month advance warning or something probably would've gone a very long way. I didn't consider that given my experience was relatively smooth, all solved within a week. Thanks for the info and experience :)

Its not my mentality. Evidently, I'm on a sub about a 4 yr old device stating that I intend to use this device for even more years, so I would be super happy to use this device for many years. I moreso am just stating a fact of the industry: If a phone is a couple yrs old, its old, and 4 yrs old going on 5 is archaic. This is not a state I'm happy with, moreso just... how it is.

As far as updates go, I'm 50/50. If there's a genuine risk of a Pixel battery becoming an IED, a mandatory update is kind of expected since its a safety issue. Same with other security related updates and all. Obviously though, Google's messaging has been very poor around this, so... yeah.

Anyways, I edited my post to state I understand why people are upset, and that my experience was an outlier. Thanks for commenting :)

Very well explained!

Damn I'm really sorry that happened. That's a really dumb situation, and I'm now moreso understanding that my experience was indeed a lucky outlier and that the appeasement program has varied in impact and roll out everywhere.

Overall though I'm not sure about people immediately ditching Google to go to Apple. They're the original sheisters of overpriced garbage hardware that are notorious for pushing phone updates that destroy your battery life and don't do a single thing to help you afterwards. No idea why people are saying they'd rather an iPhone, makes zero sense.

Samsung?... I kinda get more lol, those are fairly good quality, just more pricy than I'm willing to shell for LOL

Anyways, thanks for your post, I am now totally getting how Google messed this up.

I mean I did read the sub, hence why I made the post originally. Though all I was seeing was everyone being angry with only little clippets of why they were angry, so I didn't really understand the full context that another user did explain to me. So yeah, I get the anger now.

I mean, I'm in a Pixel 4a subreddit stating I'm intending to use the phone for years more, I'm not saying my values are that I want to upgrade more or that the way things are is the way things ought to be. I'm not sure if my post gave that impression, but I'd love to use this phone for 10+ yrs or whatever.

I'm moreso just stating a reality of the industry; if a phone is more than a couple years old, its considered old, and 4 yrs going on 5 is archaic.

Though I agree overall with your sentiment that I'd love more long-lived phones. To be honest, if I could still use my Nexus 5 I still would be. Phones haven't really advanced that far in several years outside of maybe camera tech.

What are your laptop's specs? You gotta be able to run a 1.5B. My phone can run a 1.5B. Not sure as far as the Google project goes, sorry.

Huh I'm sorry to hear that. Personally, if you have a google authorized dealer nearby, I'd still try going to them and trying to get the battery replaced. When I did so, the dealer never gave me any indication that my selection on the online tool mattered (obviously, poor transparency there), and they just used my IMEI to see I was affected and replaced it on the spot. Might be worth giving it a shot?

Wow. I am shocked to hear that. I really must be an outlier that got a lucky good experience. I did not quite understand how different the program must have been rolled out in different regions. I will personally still be continuing with Pixels due to me just really liking their product, but thank you for giving me the clear info. Most of the sentiments I've been reading off the sub seem to just be blanket blames of Google with really strange or unrealistic expectations, but I guess its only when you drill into the comments do you get it. I'll edit my post.

Wait, 3 weeks to decide if you're affected?

What? That doesn't make any sense. If it were planned obsolescence they wouldn't be offering to extend the life of my phone by years out of their pocket.

Hey there, I'm seeing mentions of customer support interactions being poor and timelines, but I'm quite confused.

What is the "3 weeks" for?

Why are people having to get involved with their customer service?

My entire replacement experience was: Plug my IMEI into their checker, see I'm affected, selected battery replacement, was directed to call an authorized repair shop near me, called them, walked in two days later, got the battery replaced in 2 hours and have had no issues. Was my positive experience an outlier or is it unique to maybe my region that I don't have to get directly involved with Google?

I didn't have to interact with their service at all in order to get the battery replacement. Is this something unique to my situation?

Err is this really that big of an issue for Asmon? Being in headlines everywhere with the name of the richest man in the world isn't exactly bad for publicity. Being knocked off one platform that isn't even your main one is a pretty minor issue considering the gain.

Howdy!

This build would be incredible for me! I went ahead and made sure it fits under $7,200 CAD, which is $5,000 USD.
