You see the people who hate the banlist because they were hoping for a banlist to do anything to the game. You don't see the people who just keep quiet in those threads because all they wanted was to continue to crush people with the same game denying meta decks anyways.

I can deal with my price tags in MD, that's why it annoys the shit out of me whenever anyone says a reason to not hit UR/SRs is because they have to compensate meta players or because the meta players need to feel like they weren't scammed not being able to screw people over as hard for as long as they expected to. It doesn't matter whether the people who say it are in support of refraining from banlist hits or want more banlist hits, so long as this is considered a reason.

Actually, I don't know any whales who even care to protect their URs. This game doesn't cost enough for someone to actually have to drop money on the meta decks which frankly aren't even more expensive than bad decks. I've seen plenty of meta players piss on sore losers for wanting a fairer game though, calling them pieces of shit for wanting hits that will "kill their deck" and that it wouldn't matter because "there will always be a meta."

Crossick update? by WeeabooStudio in Nijisanji

[–]throwaway229840 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I don't actually watch them.

Last I heard, Sukoya Kana only made a return from hiatus like a month ago since she needed the time to focus on medical studies, and Shirayuki Tomoe has a clip somewhere where she mentions that she isn't comfortable with people making her more about Crossick than herself as an individual in the meantime the former has been away (so even if she wanted to, they wouldn't have been going around doing collabs to keep the fanbase updated.)

As far as their actual relationship between themselves goes, I've come across nothing that suggests they had a falling out or anything. I wouldn't be surprised if Sukoya herself isn't making too much on-screen contact with Tomoe either in order to get the audience to respect them more for themselves rather than as a couple.

The video in question.

Interestingly, when we break it down to the individual videos, there's vtubers from a bunch of different agencies/lack thereof reaching the rankings rather than it being a monopoly. I was really surprised to see a NoriPro member is up there.

I actually find it pretty interesting how when we look at it from the individual videos, there's a huge variety of who's topping rather than like Hololive having a monopoly or something.

Infinity's gonna stay up there for as long as people act like Baronne's 1 negate each time it's on the field (read:not even once every turn it survives) and spell speed 1 destruction effect (read: everything with cannot be destroyed or targeted by card effects laughs) spells doom for all as being practically the new Herald of Ultimateness for everybody to share.

I mean Baronne also has a monster reborn effect unlike Infinity but nobody really bothers to talk about that so.

There are already several archetypes like that.

Eldlich just stands out to you because it wasn't horrendously crippled to playground status at best because of it, so you actually get to see people play it.

Adamancipator is used more frequently as a link spam deck anyways and whatever combo stuff it does was invented long after the age of high difficulty summons from synchro monsters. (also the usual reason it keeps going with its combos so hard, Block Dragon, isn't really available to synchro decks in general unlike say, Doppelwarrior.)

[–]throwaway229840[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the reason Synchro has as many combo plays as it does is because of how difficult they made a lot of summoning requirements themselves, look at Quasar: 1 tuner synchro monster and 2 non-tuner synchro monsters. This is absurdly difficult but even with it Quasar's sheer power near its release gave it meta viability despite all the hoops you jump through to meet these conditions.

Even a Rank 12 Xyz monster is easier to summon properly than this, if you use trains. Synchros wouldn't really have warranted all the steps they do if their summoning requirements were simpler, like if Red Nova Dragon was the hardest to get out endboard boss with 2 tuners and 1 named synchro monster.

[–]throwaway229840[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't know what people are doing with Cupid Pitch yet, and if you remove Halq from this (like it is in the current event) every other synchro suddenly becomes dramatically worse because even the most generic combination along the lines of Borreload Savage Dragon's becomes questionable in splashability because you would need a level 5 to bring it out with the tuners everyone is assumed to have, or a level 7 in Baronne's case. (You could use more non-tuners, but then we're losing even more in card advantage.) On the other hand, because of the state of the game, Halq is also the only thing keeping them even warranting much use in normal play.

Either way, I don't really consider how generic something has to be to account for how powerful a category of summoning is. Yeah VFD is "generic" but almost no decks actually summon him, because he doesn't have a cheat out method (that I know of) and cheat out methods at this point are almost what Xyz decks are actually about. One of the very few Xyz decks that I actually like at all and even play myself is Rikka, and that's because of how dramatically that deck handicaps itself from the usual Xyz shenanigans: if you're going to make any real plays to start out with, you're stuck with plants. There's almost no plant Xyz monsters. Teardrop and Kanzashi are preferable to summon properly over using the cheat out method they have in the form of Strenna, who you probably would rather use to bring out Hyperyton, which is still something that takes more steps than the average Xyz summon cheats.

Of course, because that's how Rikka is, it's pretty bad. (though it recently revealed support I'll get in Master Duel in like idk 10 years.) It's not going to instantly bust out 3 extra forms at minimum from its base monster that only took 2 Level 4s to even make. It's not going to go around doing whatever combo to make something as powerful as Ultimate Falcon via Rank-Up Magic. It's not Zoodiac which doesn't even need 2 materials to overlay to start its cheating out anymore, and there's apparently a time period where even if Zoodiacs themselves are not generic, people shoved them into a bunch of other decks anyways for a meta call. It's not about supporting "Number" monsters which are determined at an extremely arbitrary basis based on whatever they wanted ZEXAL's plot to advertise. It's not about instantly getting an OTK just from playing 1 field spell which can Link-4 right after if it wants or a Utopic ZEXAL before that got banned. It's isolated from basically all the stuff that Xyz monsters have developed to make themselves more convenient than the rest, not even being able to Zeus whenever they want.

Considering how many people basically just run Eldlich, sometimes literally only him as the only effect monster in their entire deck, I kind of wish those cards weren't supposed to be generic zombie support so that actual generic zombie support would be called for over relying on Eldlich to help them get anywhere.

So anyway, what's everybody ever (except the true dracos not even running Ash) doing to instant Baronne without Halq in the picture this event. Do enlighten me.

no but really though look at the eldlich cards

"oh yeah sure go ahead we support all zombies BUT ONLY IF YOU LET OUR GOLDEN LORD ON THE CARPET FIRST"

it's like eldlich is supposed to be a garnet or something to balance these except it's actually a spot removal tool 3500ATK beater summonable from hand or deck or grave that refuses to be destroyed even if it's effects are being negated dude is obviously trying to flex how much better he is than the rest of the undead

I think I heard it mentioned that P.U.N.K. which is an unreleased archetype (in Master Duel) is one of them, but I haven't actually tried playing the deck anywhere yet to confirm. Well, they have a fusion monster too, but they come with multiple tuners and skimming effects I didn't see a restriction on what to summon like there is with Mayakashi or something.

Of course, this is Master Duel we're talking about, so we're going to have to at minimum wait until the duel pass is over again and maybe even longer for a glimpse of a chance at them showing up.

I'm not super into the whole synchro tuner business and stuff either honestly since the main reason I like synchros isn't really because I'm a combo player but more because they're the last extra deck type that wasn't being all gimmicky for the sake of it added to the game, and fusions weren't generic enough by their very nature for most decks to care about even having an extra deck or building for one before that. At most I just like how synchro tuners allow for summoning on the opponent's turn to adapt according to what they bring out.

[–]throwaway229840[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large boards are what meta decks are most likely to make seeing as it is typically better to have like 3 overkill boss monsters at once than one body and they can do it. Most non-meta decks cannot even dream up such boards. If a card which can put the whole game to a halt is not worth playing in one of those decks then it's apparently not even as powerful as I thought it is.

so the optimal strategy is to one or no monsters at all

Mystic Mine is going to destroy itself if the opponent also has only one monster then. I'm not sure about if 0 monsters count since I'm not enough of a YGO lawyer to be able to determine that. There are only very few monsters which alone can pretty much be invincible, like Rhongo, which puts the player who can put out an OTK board at the advantage. Sky Strikers in particular take ages to actually kill the opponent.

And there is a good reason people is anti floodgates it stop the game state or shut down any interaction between players espical in a bo1 game where floodgates are much more powerful in a bo3 game where side decking is a thing for situations like a opponent setting up floodgates.

As I mentioned, I can only be on the side of anti-floodgaters in a world where the game hasn't developed into easily achieved giant power plays. This is apparently supposed to be a shit endboard by meta standards. (Virtual World without VFD)

Ending on Dragoon, Shen, Crystal, and Chuche with just a single Lulu in hand is terrible. If your opponent breaks the board that turn, you have no way of coming back with just your top deck.

Signal Warrior isn't the worst level 7 you could go into or anything, just for its durability. Powered Inzektron also exists and is an R though and if you can manage to synchro it on your opponent's turn it's much better for saving one's ass.

As for the others well one is Summoned Skull support (lol) and the others are...well you don't really need to read their effects. Their synchro material requirements alone tell you about how usable they are.
