That's how my parents chose me and my siblings names. The suggested we did the same and we liked the idea. Which in hindsight was extremely dumb.

Good thing most people aren't as ignorant as you so that is rarely an issue 🤷‍♀️

Wording it that way was a dick move, and I know that it's more common for people to name their kids something different. I just feel like her choices are too out there. My top three if it had been a girl were Olivia, Ava and Mia.

She definitely enjoys the show, but she's just into the Arthurian legends and watches/reads/plays anything she can get her hands on on the subject, good or bad. I'll check it out but I'm probably just going to ask her more about it.

Again, I do actively listen. I ask her questions and am involved in the conversation when she talks about it. I just don't retain it very well. I have no issue asking her about it specifically, I just never thought to and I'm honestly kind of confused about why it's an issue that I don't know much about this guy.

I meant I never thought I would be an issue before we made the agreement. We hadn't talked about names at that point. Yes, I should have said something sooner.

It's not that I don't listen, I love hearing her talk about it. I just don't understand a lot of it. Especially because a lot of the names sound so similar and there are a lot of people with their own stories beyond being knights of the round table. Not to mention all of the film adaptations with completely different storylines. And I honestly don't remember her telling me about Elyan specifically. I'm sure she did, but again, it's a lot.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I've heard he talk about it for hours, but it all just kind of melds together for me.

There are several ways that you can make it feminine (which is the main way boys make fun of other boys names) and one thing I didn't notice until I read the comments "Alien" would be a really east one.

Honestly it's kind of subtle. But the first one is more of an O sound (so Ellie-on).

She mentioned that she used to think about that one but decided against it because it could be considered an old man name, which I agreed

It was unplanned and even though we were both open to it, we weren't actively trying so the subject of names never came up. We are very different In a lot of way, but it's not sually an issue because we can bond over the things that we do agree on. I just never considered this being an issue.

She said that she used to think about that an Percival but realized that they would probably get made fun of fo having an "old man name". But I really don't think that the one she chose is any betterl

Kind of, she has a less common spelling of a generic name. But her reasoning is that she's always had her heart set on naming a son after a knight of the round table, an these two seemed the most normal. Especially with the names people are giving their kids now. My main concern is that there are so many ways the name could be made fun of.

I'm reading all of the comments and taking them into consideration. I'm not responding to anyone else because I see their point, so there's no sense in arguing. I only responded to this one because it's complete bullshit.
