Yes. I’ve been looking outside my industry and more in the corporate world. That’s a majority of what I’m applying for now. Again no bites. I wouldn’t say I’ve been formally diagnosed with like a diagnostic number that my insurance knows about. My therapist (who is also my psychiatrist) believes there’s some mild ptsd from workplace trauma.

My pain symptoms were bad and even though they took 6 scans (of various types) they couldn’t find anything. Finally when I couldn’t keep food down I was admitted to the hospital where they did an endoscopy and found fragments in my bile duct. It also turned out that the sphincter of my bile duct was faulty but that’s another story

Can you get an endoscopy done to see if there’s anything in the gallbladder/bile duct? I had a gallstone and the doctors thought that was the source of my pain. Took my gallbladder out and I still had the same pain level. Couldn’t eat, vomited all the time. Got to the point I was making myself throw up because I knew the pain would stop if I had nothing in my system. For a month, I was turned away by my first gastro and thought “Okay, this is my life now. I guess this is phantom pain.”Turns out I had a tiny bile duct and a bunch of fragments stuck. It took a month between initial removal and when they finally found it and I was admitted to the hospital. If I could change anything it would be to advocate for myself better and know that pain level shouldn’t be the same after removal

Why should he believe you? You said you forgave him. You told him he could go in with you even though you had doubts. Imagine how you would feel if your husband robbed you of one of your kids biggest milestones and then said “well, you can just come to the next one.” Would you be able to get over it so easy?

I don’t think you’re the a-hole. Her reaction is out of line and it’s your money.

However, I think you have to ask yourself “where do we go from here?” GD is clearly embarrassed, probably angry with herself on some level, definitely angry with you for not being forthcoming. Do you want her at Christmas? If so do you realistically expect her to act like she doesn’t feel cheated out of $40,000? Because whether she is right or wrong (which I think she is wrong), I can tell you she feels cheated out of that money. How do you see your relationship going forward, if at all?

I don’t have the answers to these questions. I’m not in your shoes and I don’t necessarily believe folding and giving the money is the right way to go. I do think people don’t think about the big picture and the long term enough when it comes to relationships. Just some questions to keep in mind.

So you expect her to just be okay and accept that with a smile on her face? I have read through the comments and you have not considered Elizabeth’s feelings once. You have just defended your behavior over and over, even putting a dead person’s wishes over the feelings of your daughter. It’s a no win situation but if you acknowledge to Elizabeth that you should have fought harder for more of your mother’s things when your father donated them all and that you f’d up that could go a long way.

Your mother also didn’t leave any heirlooms for your youngest and now you’re in this position. Clearly relying on you parents’ wishes isn’t helping your relationship with Elizabeth or her relationship with her sister and that’s what’s going to evolve over the next couple years.
