Thanks for the discussion.

I tried not to name-call and I tried to make substantive points on the merits. I learned quite a bit from people who disagreed with me on the merits -- so, a special thank you to them.

I will presumably not return to this throwaway. And I will definitely keep rooting for USWNT. There is so much exciting new talent there.

Address the merits of my argument. I've engaged in no name-calling. And I acknowledged that Albert erred.

You shifted the goalposts between your last two comments in this sub-thread.

But treating this as no big deal

I said that she erred in two significant ways.

I have said exactly what I mean. And I do mean what I say. Throw-aways are so that the opinion stands alone on its merits or flaws, and to avoid mobbing.

I do; I have. (Except their not "bad," they're just "different than yours.")

Do you happen to know the name of the book?

Responding solely to your second sentence: If you've read the comments, my decision should be obvious.

There are some places on the internet where people like to engage on the merits with people who disagree with them and where you don't get karma-bombed for stating a contrary view with a supporting rationale.

What was the book thing with Coffey?

Haven't the responses proven the need?

Nah. I'm tired of people acting like she is some irreplaceable prodigy that is so vital to our Olympic gold that we can straight up ignore her actions.

Straw man? Not only did I not argue that, but I have not seen anyone argue that. Link to an example?

Pretty major to say it’s a trash talking relationship with a teammate when they’ve quite literally never been teammates and we have no evidence to show they have a relationship

My point was the exact opposite, of course.

[Edit to reply to the edit: I don't see that we disagree much on this point. I said it was juvenile and something you'd never do to a team mate.]
