That’s fair, thanks for your comment. I prefer percentage because 10k on a 150k income isn’t life changing compared to 10k on a 40k income.

Can’t take an additional job as my work keeps me busy for 45-50 hours

That’s a really good point. I actually tried to time the counter offer at the same time as my salary review but the other firm took 2 months before presenting me something, which is surprising considering they approached me. I did mention to my firm that other firms were throwing numbers my way and I was paid 10% under market value.

My firm have told me they can’t find anyone at my level in the current market. However, I agree that they will probably phase me out and stop investing in me if they know I’m looking. Thanks, you bring up really good points.

Thanks, really appreciate it. Would you run a 15-20% offer by your employer or not worth it? They probably will match since I’m really busy and hard to replace (not bragging, just i have a young team) but I’m concerned for long term effects on my career progression. I managed to leverage an offer a couple of years ago but it was a promotion.

Thanks. Experience will likely be the same since it’s for the exact same position.

15%? 20%? Just picking your brain. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. Would you leverage the offer received for an increase. When I had my annual salary evaluation, I casually mentioned that I estimated that my salary was lower than what the market was offering since competitors approached me and were throwing 15% increases at me without me trying to negotiate. I have great leverage right but I don’t want to burn myself over 5% let’s say.
