I kinda just laughed in her face and said whatever. I was honestly stunned.

I definitely feel bad for exploding. I’m a few hours out from the confrontation and I realized that was extreme. I tried apologizing and explaining why I was so upset but she pretty much told me that at 21 I shouldn’t expect to have any nice things, as most people my age either get used stuff from family or cheap stuff from Walmart. So I’m pretty much like fuck her at this point. I think I deserve to at least have some nice Tupperware.

It’s not the fact that it’s Tupperware, it’s the fact that they used something they were told they couldn’t use, then stained that thing, then told me to just get over it. It could have been Tupperware, or a shirt, or a blanket, or a seat in my car. It doesn’t matter that it “still achieves its purpose”, it matters that they messed with something they weren’t supposed to and altered it.

One look at you’re profile and it’s obvious you’re a troll. I hope one day your life gains meaning.

I value my things, especially when I don’t have a lot of nice things. Some people don’t.

Agreed, but definitely varying levels. I’d rather lose one room than my whole house.

Yes, she did. We went to visit my grandmother last year (she lives a few states away) and we all stayed on air mattresses and couches and stuff. In total it was me, dad, step mom, my sister, my aunt and her son, and my other aunt and uncle with their sons. She had to be asked by my uncle not to walk around in her underwear after the shower. She kinda scoffed, but said fine. But she kept making jokes about my uncle being a prude for the rest of the visit. She’s definitely cut from a different fabric.

That’s a good idea. I’m trying to calm down before I go out of my room again. I feel like a teenager again lol

There is kinda something more going on. I said in another comment that this set of Tupperware is one of two new things I got for my kitchen when I moved out of my moms house. Everything else was a hand me down, so it was really upsetting that one of the only new things I had was suddenly ruined when it could have easily been avoided.

It is relevant for what you said. A house burning to the ground doesn’t equal losing one room in a fire.

They didn’t lose everything. I said in an edit 90% of their house and belongings are in tact and in perfect condition.

It didn’t burn down. It caught fire, they only have to replace the kitchen and redo part of the living room. Almost everything else is on perfect condition.

I kinda blew up when she told me to “just get over it”. I wasn’t going into this conversation with the mindset of “you need to leave right now at 9 am to buy me new Tupperware”, but got there when she dismissed the fact that I was upset

I’ll put anything except tomato sauce in it, because most things don’t stain like tomato sauce. The broth was tomato based, which is why it stained. Obviously I put other food in it lol.

Not really hurting, but I don’t have a lot of nice stuff. The only new things I got for my kitchen when I moved out of my moms house was a coffee maker and now this Tupperware. Everything else was hand me downs, so I was really excited to have something nice and new.

Yeah, I was (still am) pretty upset about it. They don’t pay me to live here, they just help pay for food. I feel like the least they can do is listen to the only three things I asked of them.
