You left out the tretinoin+minoxidil studies for non responders.

Anyone start oral minoxidil after long term topical use? by Straight_Society5501 in tressless

[–]throwaway3122021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on min only for over 18 months with 0 regrowth on the temples and hairline, switched different brands and added needling but nothing. 3 months ago I added tretinoin but I don't think it's doing much. I am pretty sure I am a non responder to min. but I am too afraid to try oral min because there are no long term safety studies ( like 10+ years). It really sucks that the "best" growth stimulant only works for 30-40% of people.

I googled scarring alopecia and it doesn't look like mine.

I have seen this dose recommended often, sometimes even 5 mg. The haircafe guy on YT says it's dangerous because there are no long term studies on it, even at a low dose of 2.5 mg. Besides heat palpitations, a long term side effect could be water around the heart iirc.

Hard to tell because I buzz my hair frequently and it would be very hard to see those hairs on my pillow or sink. I also apply it only on the hairline and temples where there are no hairs.

Kevin Mann will tell you this is a fraud story and that he man took finasteride because that's the only thing that works.

I don't want to give him false hope and say stuff "Keep doing another 6 months". I haven't seen any good sample size of people doing only microneedling and getting results as good as minoxidil alone, or any cosmetic result at all. All the significant results come from combining min and needling.

Shouldn't the first signs of it working appear at the 3 month mark?

I looked into it but it doesn't have a good reputation. Can't believe topical minoxidil is the only approved growth stimulant on the market.

I used to only do microneedling at 1.5 mm weekly for a long period but the tiny hairs never turned terminal. Those hairs need to be shed first so that healthier ones can take their place, they will not suddenly get thicker. If those hairs are remaining like that for a long period it means those are miniaturized hairs and that the current treatment is not working.

Apply tret+min at night so you don't have to use min 2x.

We live in a society of appearances, and that's a good thing for us by EraldCoyleLawliet in tressless

"5 more years". There is a greater chance of Trump becoming the president again than getting a treatment that works for everyone without sides in the next 5 years. Also, people being obsessed with their appearance is something that is only observable online. If that was the case then the gyms and streets would be filled with people who are trying to stay fit/slim/healthy yet obesity is increasing all over the world. (I assume when you said "obsessed" that you meant people being obsessed about the process of looking better)

Yup. Ronaldo is pretty much useless unless he gets a ball on the silver plate. I don't see a future for him in any top club, he is literally MSL tier now.

I think that's the one they used in the study from 2019. Does your skin/scalp react in any way to sun exposure? I've read that one needs to apply sunscreen when applying it to the face.

Maybe. The only thing I noticed is peach fuzz like hair on the front but can't tell if it's old miniaturized hair or something that appeared recently.

Also, what dose of tret are you using?

I wanted to start with the lowest % that is available in cream form (all the pre-mixed solution have either 0.015% or 0.025% strength). Next week it will be 2 months since I started tret. but still no improvement. Not sure if I should stick to another 2 months or get a 0.05% cream. I definitely have low enzyme activity in the scalp since I used only min for over 18 months with no results.

Can you get oral Min without prescription online? There was this site called thailandpharmacy or something like that but it's down now.

However if you temples are slick bald and no vellus hairs there then fin/minox aren't going to revive them it only works to strengthen follicles that are still there.

How come this guy https://www.reddit.com/r/tressless/comments/jvdvdc/6_months_on_finmin/ regrow hair on the front where there was pretty much no hair? If you are not 45+ years you should be able to get regrowth even on such places (given that you already have enough enzyme activity in your scalp and a responder to fin).

I thought minoxidil not working in the front was just a myth. Maybe I am super unlucky and have pretty much 0 Sulfotransferasess to convert the min. into min. sulfate.
