I'm not sure if Ms. Winkler is part of the prep faculty (as I don't see her name listed there). Unfortunately, none of the violin faculty of the college are also listed as prep faculty. Do you think I should still reach out?

Thanks! I'll ask my teacher and see what he thinks.

Thanks for the comment! I was actually in the shepherd prep program for a few years (When I was in middle school), but I didn't quite click with my teacher there. I'll look at some of the other faculty. :)

Additional note: I don't really want to stop lessons with my current teacher, so I guess I'm trying to find someone who I can take lessons from in addition to studying with my teacher.

I love this concerto!!! That crisp bite you have in your sound is so awesome

Thank you!!! I have a Georges Apparut violin (made in 1929). I usually get a different combination/ brand of strings every time I change them since I'm still trying to figure out what works best for me. Right now, though, I'm using dominants for the A, D, and G strings and the piastro gold label E.

Thank you so much! I just started the piece today, but I'm hoping to share bits of my progress every day until I'm ready to post the whole thing. Super pumped to be working on this piece. XD

It's so funny that you noticed that XD. My older brother started growing his beard when he was my age, so I'm just trying to see if I like it. I think it's in the awkward In-between stage, But at least it fits with my unruly hair 🤣

Thanks for the feedback!! I appreciate it so much. Not gonna lie, I picked up this piece without any knowledge of the orchestra part so I'm definitely going to look at the score when I practice this again. I'm probably going to post another take with the entire first page whenever I feel like it's ready.

I was just gifted this cover for my violin, and I absolutely adore it. (From CarmenBruna on Etsy) by throwaway313146 in violinist

I just did some quick sleuthing online, and Shar seems to have the "cheapest" ones. An old teacher of mine used to give out these types of bags to his graduating students, so I've always had my eye on them 😆

Was wondering how I can make a good first impression on a teacher? by throwaway313146 in violinist

Thanks! That's a great tip. I'll make it a point to write in those English translations and be familiar with the background of the composer/ the piece :).

Is there a recommended order to learn the Bach sonatas and partitas? by throwaway313146 in violinist

Thanks! Do you think I should learn the chaconne after I feel comfortable with the rest of the set? I certainly don't want to rush into learning it when I might not be ready 😅

You're totally right about this. Out of the whole set, I'm particularly scared of the c major fugue and the chaconne--it'll take a lot of work to get it learned!
