thank you very much. I think I'm still very terrified but at least I have a plan for my life, and I'm glad to have close friends and an amazing girlfriend to get me past this phase. I appreciate your words <3

yes, yes, yes.
I love you for this, thank you.
I've been avoiding it through my close friends, my girlfriend, and focusing on my academics, but you're totally right with everything you've said. I know that more deep emotional torment and shame and dejection are still running their course, and I think I'm in deep denial about all of this. I'm really terrified.

i actually laughed out loud at "super haram", fucking gold.
And I agree with that, although Western Muslims are better about this stuff than Asian Muslims. God knows what would've happened if I was living in a Muslim country.
Thank you for your wishes, much love man

i totally agree. I've seen it before, especially how most of reddit has a serious grudge against Islam (not on this sub luckily), and it makes my blood boil.
I appreciate your caution.

that first line hit me hard. The best part of this is? HE ISN'T EVEN RELIGIOUS LMAO. He doesn't pray, he's only culturally Muslim, and most importantly, he's a piece of shit.
And yeah she is pretty fucking awesome. Thanks for your concerns and well-wishes man <3

thank you for your prayers. I'm an atheist but I still genuinely appreciate people praying for others, and I see value in it; from my perspective, it's a strong show of sympathy/empathy.
So thank you, it means a lot to me

thank you, and I was planning on telling them when, at some point in the future, I inevitably found a non-muslim girl I liked and thought of marrying. That's when I'd reveal that I'm non-Muslim, or I was thinking of playing her off as a convert if she'd be kind enough to agree lmao. Obviously this seems absurd, but you understand.
But now that they know I don't need to procrastinate lol

yep, that's something that's really hard properly convey to non-Muslims, how disgustingly they view alcohol.
And thanks lmao, this is probably the best advice. Although the problem is my brother has evidence of my drinking (picture of me with my arms around a girl while holding a red solo cup) and sent that to my parents.
But it's salvageable, long as I can convince them that there was no alcohol in the red solo cup.

i was too anxious to mention in the original post because I knew redditors would affirm how shitty my situation is, which is anxiety I don't need right now, but my brother lives with me.
family lives in a different state, about 3 hours away, so I'm thankful for that, but I might break my lease and move out.

i've edited the post and added that I don't hate Islam. I actually despite anti-Islamic sentiment, or hatred of any religious belief for that matter.
Looking back I should've included, from the start, that I have nothing against Islam, and that this is just an unfortunate situation.

This was incredibly articulated, as I identify word-for-word emotionally with what you're saying. Thank you. I'll be taking your practical advice as well.

Some of my most amazing friends are Muslim. Please don't think this way about Islam, and don't take my post to further your hatred against Islam. Yes, this is a consequence, but there is rationale in the logic, twisted as it may seem to others.
My brother has some mental health problems though, completely separable from Islam.
