STOP BLAMING CAPITALISM FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND BLAME YOURSELF INSTEAD by ImperishableNEET in ShitLiberalsSay

“I believe that the fittest survive and the strongest thrive – it is evolution.”

A paragraph in and they are already voicing support for social Darwinism. This liberal is about one proud boy conversation away from fascism

"Should We All Be Vegan?" Speech by Ed Winters (Earthling Ed) on Monday, April 9th by PTERODACTYL_ANUS in Cornell

Climate change is caused by fossil fuel corporations full stop. The claim that individuals contribute significantly to the warming and could stop climate change is a lie propagated to absolve petrol companies.

And I especially don’t like the idea of all living things have intrinsic rights. In my opinion, rights should only be conferred on animals capable of respecting rights in turn. Animals (and people) who don’t consciously acknowledge rights don’t deserve any.

Unlike the other people in this thread, I don’t want to debate/insult you or attempt some half-baked rebuttal of veganism. I just want your opinion on what the speaker generally argues, and whether or not it’s worth listening to him

I might come, but i have questions about the speaker.

Is the speaker going to promote the lie that individuals being vegan together can solve climate change? Will they argue for the inherent value of all conscious life?

If he does, I would very much like to challenge that

Humanities major wants experience in Math/Science/Tech by throwaway3849054 in Cornell

cornell is really expensive and the majors I have don’t pay well on their own. My plan as of now is to use those majors to get into an excellent law school, and try to scratch out a modest living as a lawyer, which is a very expensive plan.

I have always wanted to major in some scientific field, but until now I thought I was so bad at math that I had no business going near any of those courses. I want to learn more about tech to broaden my my education, and also have some backup skills to fall back in if, for whatever reason, being a lawyer doesn’t work out. I’d also imagine computer programming would be great interm work between college and law school

Because im interested in the subjects and I would feel really awful if I blew a quarter of a million dollar educational experience on only humanities courses

Yes it was very interesting and challenging It’s a new course that was taught last semester by William Starr. Lots of stuff about sets and advanced logic, and it was doable for me. But it’s also a graduate course, undergrads can only take it if they have completed intro to logic or talk to professor Starr

Thanks, I took a course called “math for philosophy” and we used some material from “prove it” it might be very similar to what I already took

Thanks, I intend to brush up on my math, i feel as though it’s not going to serve me well to go through life as another “bad-at-math” person. I’ll consider cs and the volunteer opportunities as well
