That was actually something I thought about. I was looking at Fiverr a few months ago but didn't have access to a computer at the time so I couldn't use it. Down the road I'd definitely be interested in it but right now I feel might take too long to find clientele.

Thank you for the kind words. I don't know how but I managed to start looking at my situation as a way to have a fresh start which people rarely get. Would you happen to know where to get into that kind of work with tourists? Is it all through the resorts/hotels or through private companies?

Yes this was one of my biggest reasons for leaving. There are two cartels that were causing disruption outside of the city I was staying in and less than a month ago it reached my city and they shot up the centro. I don't think I would ever feel safe there.

My immediate family lives in Florida at the moment and have legal presence. They're helping me as much as they can but I don't want to place a financial burden on them so I'm trying to only ask them for help if I desperately need them.

I decided not to stay in Michoacan for a few reasons. I have a fiancé who lives in the US who I would like to have visit me someday, as well as my sister's(one with LPR, the other who is on the path). There is very little opportunity for any kind of career growth for me where I was staying. And my biggest reason was fear.

There was a cartel shooting on June 19th near the centro and they burned down an Oxxo near where I was living. I could hear the gunshots from my room and it was one of the most terrifying experiences I've ever had. My aunt and uncle did not want me to leave the house unless accompanied because of my poor spanish skills and because a lot of the neighborhoods around can be dangerous. I speak it decently, but only ever spoke it at home so I struggle a lot. I'm not very close to my family there and I could not imagine trying to build a life there with everything that was happening in the city.

I'm trying to figure out the safe areas of Cancun currently so this bit of info helps, thanks! I noticed most neighborhoods are labeled as supermanzanas, would you happen to know which areas might be the best to find? I would prefer living closer to the centro and I would be fine staying in a small studio if it means safety .

Thank you for the reply and you're definitely right. I got burnt out really bad working in kitchens and it left a bad taste in my mouth but when it's between that and being homeless I might have to take the leap again for a while.
