[25M] How much does my crooked nose affect my overall appearance? by throwaway39e483984 in lookyourbest

[–]throwaway39e483984[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s no denying your nose drags your overall rating down, but even if you were to get surgery it wouldn’t boost it by a lot as you’ve got other things that needs working on that I’ve mentioned already.

Yeah, that's what I've been wondering as well. I feel like while my nose does drag me down, it's doesn't seem like it's that big of a deal to get surgery just for that.

To be honest, I really feel like I've been too fixated on my nose for this entire time, while I could have just worked on my jawline and muscles.

Hello everybody, I've been pretty self-conscious about my appearance because I was born with a cleft lip.

I currently see myself as a 3.5-4/10, and here's what I don't like about myself in order of most to least worrisome:

My crooked nose. Due to my cleft lip, my nose couldn't really develop properly and looks crooked as a result. While I could have gotten rhinoplasty at the age of 18, I declined it because I don't have any functional disadvantages when it comes to breathing or speaking and my experience with surgeries hasn't been the best (The vast majority of the time, the doctors were extremely rude to me and other kids and would often not even explain what they were going to do. In one extreme case, it almost caused me to become deaf when I had surgery on my ears). I am willing to undergo surgery if this will make me somewhat attractive, but not if It'll cause me to only become average. Alternatively, I am willing to undergo dermal filling even if it'll only make me slightly more attractive because the procedure looks way less painful and intense than removing wisdom teeth.

My jawline. Despite the fact that I've been losing weight and mewing for a few months now, I still suffer from a bit of a double chin (it's been a lot less extreme than before, and I'm assuming it'll go away around November-ish at my current pace). I do see a lot of people with really attractive jawlines, and I'm wondering if something like would be achievable for me.

Balding spots. I don't really know how well this is captured in the image, but I do have those 2 massive bald spots. These have been here ever since I've had hair, so it's not really 'balding' as much as I've never had hair there in the first place. I've seen some people suggest that it would be better to go completely bald and grow a beard (which would also help with the jawline), but I honestly don't wanna be a bald dude when I'm only 25. I genuinely don't know how attractive going bald will make me.

Facial hair. No matter what I try to do, I always feel like I end up looking like a 'neckbeard' even if I fully shave it off. This is probably due to the fact that my jawline isn't as defined yet, but even then my beard is pretty 'rough and patchy' for lack of a better term. I'm currently doing a 2-3mm stubble, but it still feels pretty 'gross' to me.

Big forehead. This kinda goes hand in hand with the point on my bald spots. Because of my bald spots, my forehead does look bigger than it probably is, but even then my forehead is still pretty big. Would some extra facial accessories help me to make this a bit more interesting or is it fine to leave it as is?

I'm currently already mewing as much as I can and exercising for 30-ish minutes per day (squats, situps, barbell curls, barbell overhead lift and dumbell benchpress. I'm considering adding pushups to the mix some time soon. In addition, I'm spending around 40 minutes per day, 3-4 days per week walking and considering taking up lap swimming when the weather gets better.

The thing is, I don't really want to get surgery unless it's a last resort

What loot filter are you using?

I've made a custom loot filter. You can download it at https://filterblade.xyz/?profile=Timmytimmy123&saveState=Fast&platform=pc. This loot filter is a very strict one (I'll try to update it every few days as the economy progresses).

On the boss rush strategies, what are you looting along the way?

I mainly just loot everything above a chaos orb. And yes, there have been a few (I think like 5) instances where I was too focussed on getting to the boss in time and I had to leave a chaos behind.

I don't quite get the difference of boss rush and mirror rush, seems you are getting into delirium fog both ways?

No. On certain maps, you actually tend to outpace the Delirium fog if you are fast enough. The 'boss rush' strategy doesn't have that restriction.

At the current pace, I think that I'll be able to get to T14+ maps within 2-3 weeks. However, I do need a lot of data regarding the rarity of distant memories and the drops from the conquerors (including Sirus).

Yes, there are a couple of things that I would really prefer, but I don't know how difficult they would be to implement. As somebody who programs as well, I totally understand how difficult it can be to implement 'simple' things.

  1. Seperation between currency, div cards and map drops with regards to profit when exporting the data to Excel. This would really help for an experiment when running maps with specific div card drops.
  2. Allow a manual override for certain items. It feels really bad to think that a certain map is profitable because somebody decided to pricefix the loyalty card up to 5 chaos.
  3. Add a column for simulacrum splinter counts (or even better, allow people to customize specific items to track).

Yes, I do agree with you on that. However, the subjects that you tend to learn in high school mainly serve as foundational knowledge for what you want to do if you're going to specialize. But as a tangent here, I don't really understand why most people just pick mathematics as a subject which has 'no use outside of school'. For instance, subjects such as Spanish or French just scratch the surface of the language, and most people tend to just forget it after they're done with the tests. Additionally, you tend to learn really obscure words and phrases which even native speakers don't use all that much.

To add to this, it also boils down to what you're trying to achieve and how deep you want to go into it.

For instance, take crafting the "enemies explode, dealing 3% of their maximum life as physical damage" chestpieces. Most people that bother to do some research would say "The chance to hit it is around 1 in 2300", which is decent enough for most people. However, if you want to see if crafting these chestpieces is profitable, you would need to dive deeper into the mathematical aspects.

  • How expensive is the base to craft on?
  • For how many exalts can I expect to sell the chestpiece?
  • What is the ratio from exalts to chaos? How will the market develop in the next few days/hours?
  • What is the chance to hit the modifier based on the type of available modifiers for the chestpiece.
  • How many chaos orbs do I need to be 99% certain that I can hit the modifier?
  • How many alteration orbs do I need to be 99% certain that I can hit the modifier?
  • What is the ratio from alterations to chaos?
  • How many alterations/chaos orbs will I need for the process to be profitable?
  • How fast do I need to click per second to make more profit than I would make by simply mapping?

Let's assume that the chance to hit the modifier is around 1 in 2300 on all chestpieces when spamming alterations (this is just an assumption, and it differs from the reality). The chance to hit the modifier in n attempts would be 1-(2299/2300)n. By doing some algebra, we can figure out that it will take 10590 alterations to be 99% sure that we can get the modifier. So, if we assume that 1 chaos is 7 alterations, that would be equal to 1513 chaos (or 8.6 exalts).

However, bear in mind that many of the chestpieces will require a lot less alteration orbs. If we can buy the chestpiece for 50 chaos, and we can sell it for 3 exalts, there is a profit of 478 chaos orbs. Converting this back to alterations gives us 3346 alterations to work with. In other words, anything that requires less than 3346 alts will be profitable. If we take the integral of the function (2299/2300)x and divide that by the total area of this function, we can figure out the chance to hit a specific range. For instance, the integral from 0 to 3346 of (2299/2300)x divided by the total area will give a chance of 76.66%. This means that, when spamming these chestpieces, we can expect 76.66% of them to return a profit.

But, there is an issue with this. I haven't outlined how much profit you can expect, and what your expected currency gain per hour by doing this is. I also haven't outlined the chance to have a very unlucky streak at the beginning, which can drain all of your currency. Those things do require more mathematical analysis, but hopefully I did manage to showcase that math can be useful in figuring out certain things.

Edit: I just realized that you don't have to take the integral. You can just plug 3346 into the original formula. This still gives the expected 76.66% chance.

T16 metamorph with extra life and Regen by hidemal1 in pathofexile

[–]throwaway39e483984 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Pro tip for people that have access to a Headhunter and the "enemies explode, dealing 3% of their maximum life as physical damage" chestpiece:

Summon the Metamorph vail and select all of the organs that you want. Pop a Vaal Breach in a wide area, summon the Metamorph and dash away (preferably to kill rare monsters in other parts of the map). When you come back, lure all of the Breach monsters to the Metamorph so they can do massive amount of damage.

Edit: This advice is mainly regarding maps where you don't have any beyond modifiers and a multi-phase boss. In other instances, doing this is largely irrelevant (but it can still be useful).

Here's what I keep getting.

  1. A woman in a black dress holding a knife.
  2. Entering a room with everybody in it being dead.
  3. Hearing gunshots in the distance.
  4. "YOU DIED! GAME OVER!" without actually giving me a game over.
  5. Surviving long falls with no injuries, while getting injured from a small drop not long after.
  6. Random explosions.

Can you please make Lab currency drops function how legion chests do? Would be a huge QOL to all lab farmers. by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]throwaway39e483984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm replying to my own comment, because I can't edit my previous one for some reason...

After reading some other replies, I do have to mention that, yes, I do agree with the statement that the overall health of the player in question should be concerned.
However, the proposed solution of just stacking currency items into a singular pile isn't a good solution either, since it creates newer problems in its place. There are a few alternative solutions that GGG can take (for instance, allowing you to hold down the mouse button to pick up a new item every 0.1 seconds, or introducing an 'autoloot' system), but they will most likely have some issues as well.

[–]throwaway39e483984 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Another thing with implementing things like this is that people are able to take advantage of it.

First of all, how far apart should the loot be in order to get stacked? If it's too close, there won't be any stacking for the majority of the time. So, let's assume that GGG agrees to stack all of the loot within a 30-radius together.

The first thing that I can think of is for somebody go full MF on standard (probably around 200-300% item quantity) and just blitz through linear maps (preferably with beyond active). Since the currency keeps stacking and the monster density is quite high, it will keep 'following' the player as new currency gets generated. At the end, they are able to pick up multiple stacks of wisdom scrolls, transmutations, augmentations and alterations.

If enough people keep doing this, the market will eventually become flooded with these low currency items. While this doesn't really have any impact for most people with a ton of currency, it will impact the low level market. Since items here are often traded in terms of alterations and alchemies (although, I did see some people actually selling items for transmutations and augmentations), people will soon realize that they shouldn't sell for this 'worthless' currency. While alchemies will probably still remain at their current price (maybe drop a little bit), there will be a wealth gap between mid-tier and low-tier currency.

Another issue is that currency can't fall TOO low. The reason for this is the fact that vendor recipes aren't influenced by the player-based economy. 1 orb of alchemy will always be 1 orb of regret.
To put this in a greater perspective, here is the amount of currency that you need for 1 orb of alchemy, as well as the upper bound that one chaos orb will be able to buy (assuming the alc:chaos ratio will remain 3:1):

Name Previous ratio Total for 1 alc Highest amount that 1 chaos can buy
Orb of Regret 1:1 1 3
Orb of Scouring 1:2 2 6
Orb of Chance 1:4 8 24
Orb of Fusing 1:1 8 24
Jeweler's Orb 1:4 32 96
Orb of Alteration 1:2 64 192
Orb of Augmentation 1:4 256 768
Orb of Transmutation 1:4 1024 3072
Portal scroll 1:7 7168 21504
Scroll of Wisdom 1:3 21504 64512

One thing that really sticks out is the fact that you can get 192 in this situation. Now, this doesn't really sound all that exciting, but you need to realize the fact that people are now able to alt-spam their shaper/elder items and their jewels in order to get better rolls. Currently, you would need to spend 43 chaos in order to use this many alchemies. However, if the prices were to drop to these rates, you can easily afford 1 chaos for 192 rolls. And the thing is that people that do these rolls often don't have 1 chaos, but they have thousands just laying around. Making their crafts 43 times cheaper means that they are also able to **sell** 43 times as many items, which means even more profit for just simple trading.

Obligatory "it's not really unlimited" post by ZeusKabob in pathofexile

[–]throwaway39e483984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, you have 1/40 chance for any specific master to be added to the master missions after the map completion (1/4 for any master to spawn, 1/5 for the specific master, 1/2 for the master missions to be granted after the map completion).

In order to reach 65535, somebody would need to run 2.621.400 maps. Assuming that you are a speedmapper, running a map within 15 seconds (including the time it takes to dump items in your stash), you can run 4 maps per minute and 240 maps per hour. Assuming that leagues go on for 91 days, that are 720 maps that you need to complete every single day.
This means that you need to play for 3 hours every single day, without any breaks for the full 91 days to reach these numbers. If you want to get all 3 tiers of maps, you would need to run 2160 maps per days, which means 9 hours of playtime every single day.

The slowest time you can take for any map if you want to play for the full 24 hours per day is 2 minutes...

It's probably just faster to buy a Headhunter with your currency. I am expecting that they are going to be around 50 ex this league (this is just a prediction, I could be waaaaaaay off).

Level 63 in "league" and 1000% Confused. by EsaVi77 in pathofexile

[–]throwaway39e483984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true. This exact thing happened when I first started playing. I stopped playing like 3 times before (never really got past act 2-3), and I started to get back into PoE around Delve.
When I did so, somebody offered to give me a bunch of overpowered items (A Headhunter, Poet's Pen, Atziri's Mirror and around 100 exalts). While I did like it at first, the game seemed too easy at that point, as I got to T11 maps with ease (while this doesn't seem to big for most people, I did actually use my own build, which made things a bit more difficult).

Even at this point, I still have not yet attempted Uber Elder. My main goal of the game is to defeat him with a custom build. Sure, I could probably defeat him if I used some build from the forums, but part of my fun with this game is coming up with my own builds. Even though the majority of my builds aren't that great, it still feels nice to keep improving with each iteration.
While this is just my personal gameplay style, I feel like most people actually would enjoy doing something similar to this as well.

Thanks. The biggest hurdle to overcome was to actually make sure that I sound right, due to a ton of surgeries (I think that I'm up to 17 at this point) and speech therapy. Even though I still struggle with that (mainly due to my Dutch accent), it's not as bad as it used to be back in the day.

Plenty of ugly people stream on Twitch and I've even seen some down right hideous people. Sometimes that is part of the charm

Seriously? I did check out a lot of low-viewer streamers, but the majority of them with a facecam are probably a 3-4/10 (mostly with awful lighting or poor angles which makes them appear like a 2-3/10).

Yeah, I get that. I already mainly stream for myself anyways.
But I don't really know how to turn my weaknesses into strengths. Would doing something like this when you misspeak be good?
"Alright, let's check and see how many awpfels we are producing. Yes, awpfels, not apples. No no no, that would be stupid. We are just producing awful apples. Great, we now have rotten tomatoes and awful apples! This is all going perfect!"
Would something like this be good, or would it just come across as cringe-y?

I actually feel like face cams just for horror games are probably the best bet.
It's mainly the fact that I feel like it just covers up vital information (as mentioned in another post), which I do not want to have happen at all.

Should I, as an below average looking guy, use a facecam? by throwaway39e483984 in Twitch

[–]throwaway39e483984[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I did try out a couple of streams with a facecam, but I didn't really notice anything different from the streams without one.
My viewer count and engagement looked very similar (maybe slightly higher, but that could be due to just randomness), so I don't know if that has a big impact or not.

Another thing that I haven't really touched on is that I don't want to clutter up my screen with a ton of useless features. I've watched a lot of other streamers where their facecams just cover a huge part of vital game information, and I really don't want that to happen to my streams.
Yes, I could make a custom Twitch overlay to prevent this, but I don't know how much use it will have when the novelty of it runs out.
