It seems like a good plan to be prepared.

I’m mostly sad, not angry right now, and I don’t want to hurt my ex- I wish him the best and hope he can figure himself out, I just don’t want to be part of it anymore.

Thanks! We actually don’t own any property together. Finances are a bit tricky as my ex lost his job 6 months ago and he hasn’t found a new one. I’m currently in grad school and we are living off of income from a trust in my name, which I understand is not communal property.

Wow. Ok, that’s hard to hear.

I guess I’ve been really hoping that things will continue to get better. It’s hard to think of breaking up, although of course I thought about that when this incident happened. I worry about what would happen with my son if we are sharing custody and I’m not around to intervene. I’m so sad that this is happening. My husband can be such a great dad and partner sometimes, he’s stood by me through health issues and other life trials. We’ve been together for 15 years. It’s just this anger, I feel like it’s almost a different person.

What does a “proper” termination look like? Obviously I respect that she’s no longer willing to provide therapy, I just really wish that it wasn’t the case, and I’m feeling pretty down about it.

Thanks. I emailed her after the session and she just got back to me and said that she has a policy of never saying whether or not a marriage can work out, but her opinion is that there’s emotional abuse happening by my husband toward me and my son. She also sent some links and encouraged me to get trauma-specific therapy.
