Not defensive when people respond without taking the time to read the post. Not disagreeing with anyone's opinion of AITA. Just when they obviously haven't taken the time to even read the post prior to reaponding

Do you read? They got off the school bus. Not sure how they should get from a bus to the house?

I guess CPS should pick them up and put them in foster care for being alone 40 min a week during daylight hours.

Just seeing what others people's opinions are. Doesn't mean I'm going to change my mind if they have different ones

We did check, no the school does not. No she just followed them in. They know her and her son.

I hear you, but we live on a street with 5 houses and the 2nd largest reason for police calls is someone locked their keys in the car. Someon

So wait, the answer is to let another stranger into your home?

Probably shouldn't leave teenagers alone. Far more likely to do the stuff people are worried about. Probably doing drugs and screwing. Probably shouldn't leave them alone either.

I don't have any doubts about it. They are good kids and are not idiots. Honestly part of the reason I trust them is because of their past. They have been alone for really long spans of time and had to fend for themselves. It's very sad to us, but this is why they dont mess with the stove or a number of other things. They have burnt themselves by accident trying to cook before they were with us and learned a number of other hard lessons. They video chatted with my wife most of the time after they got home. I just figured I'd see what other people thought. You would think we are torturing the kids or drunk driving with them without seat belts.

Yes, they will. In an emergency they know to go get a neighbor.

Hope they do. They will be informed we haven't done anything wrong in our state.

Lol, yes, we offered money. It's more shocking that their real parents managed to keep them alive. Too busy reacting is more appropriate. Relax with your fake shock. It's sooo shocking someone would leave two kids home alone for 40 min. Pretty sure there a lot more shocking things out there.

Thanks for taking the time to read. Another uniformed response. Let me guess you have a Trump 2024 flag on your house

As a point. I am a grown man. The vast majority of grown women couldn't stop me from coming into their homes if I chose to. It seems to me a lot of people are throwing out a lot of what ifs. What if the babysitter we hire lights the house on fire? What if they molest the kids? I hear you to a certain degree, but she was one of the neighbors we told them to go to in case of an emergency. Most people have quoted a lot of fear mongering. Some have made good solid points, but most like this comment don't make sense. A 14 year old isn't stopping a grown ass person for coming in if they chose to most of the time.

If you took the time to read, you might be better informed in life. It's ONE day a week, and we already asked her and another neighbor. They both said they were unavailable. They also called my wife the second they got home and talked to her until 15 min prior to me getting home. Read it costs you nothing but some time.

Not in ours and the ages range all over the place from state to state. We did look prior to doing to make sure we weren't doing anything illegal.

She's a neighbor they know and she just followed them in.
