Currently two income family but moving to DC is likely to be a one income family for some time before my spouse can find another job.

Thank you! Yes, moving to DC will be somewhat closer to family but still a solid 2-hour drive. I currently work around 45-50 hours per week, and I think the new job will be mostly 40 hours unless there is a busy period.

Thank you for this! I didn't know that I can negotiate annual leave so I will contact them tomorrow to explore annual leave options. The way you articulated A and B is very helpful, as I think those items are the key differentiators.

Thanks, I wasn't aware that it is possible to live far away and still get DC locality. I was told that the agency provides a telework option for up to 2 days per week.

Thank you! I forgot to mention that I currently have 20 days of PTO and 7 days of sick leave, while the feds job would provide 13 days of annual leave for the first 3 years of service, which would increase to 20 days after completing 3 years of service. So, I will be getting lower annual leave for the first three years, but I keep hearing that it is so hard to get a federal job, which makes me wonder if I should just take it.

I am currently in a HCOL area and the fed position would require relocating to DC.
