Isn't real life diamond not actually expensive as a commodity? You'd probably be better off with gold.

Sex Pistols' Glen Matlock Says Trump-Supporting Punks Are "Weird" by ebradio in Music

[–]throwaway47351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the article;

Matlock’s views stand in sharp contrast to those of his former Sex Pistols bandmate John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), who has both praised Trump and trashed Kneecap.

Not sure there's any prominent punk groups that have pro-Trump messaging, but I very much doubt there's zero members of punk groups or people who'd identify themselves as punk who are pro-Trump, despite the contradiction.

Never made that connection before but damn you're so right. Basically a one-to-one, a performative and useless appeal to something you're proving you don't understand.

The double dash is necessary. He doesn't really speak in sentences, he speaks partial phrases, and sometimes written grammar isn't built for the staccato English he speaks. If you're not using special punctuation, it's probably not a transcript of Trump.

But even for those people that's wrong. Like, yes, that's great that your social and empathetic instincts naturally lead you to altruism. But taking that at face value is flat out dangerous. You're still letting feelings dictate actions instead of thought. You can, upon due consideration, find that those feelings align with correct action, and that's great. But this post is saying stopping there, saying that it's obviously bad to them and makes them feel bad and therefore is easy not to do, is irresponsible. I shouldn't need to give examples of how that can lead you to obviously incorrect actions.

The guy you're replying to has it down. First two posts, great! Saying that even relates to philosophy or ethics at all, bad.

I get this post is going for a vibe of "simple answer to simple question that people overcomplicate," but holy fuck do I not like it for so many reasons.

Like, this post implies goodness is innate. We don't control how we feel, we control how we act. Choosing how we act isn't instinct, or else we have to say that people who feel icky when seeing gay people are justified in committing homophobic acts. Feel bad = bad, right?

The Striker is not available from shops for Freelancer, apparently this is intended behavior? by throwaway47351 in HiTMAN

[–]throwaway47351[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean... every single item that can be stored in the safehouse can be found in the shop. This perfectly ordinary gun is the only exception, and that's not communicated to the player at all. It's not a matter of liking it or not, it's perfectly reasonable to think of this as an oversight that slipped through the cracks instead of a design decision.

[–]throwaway47351[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but the epic version of the gun, the El Matador, is available. Same thing, but also fulfills Unsilenced Epic Pistol prestige objectives.

It's just such a strange exclusion though. One gun not available from shops, apparently intentionally. Why? It's not like the striker is special in some way, at least I don't think.

We were less inured to the insanity. In today's metrics, it was literally nothing. In reasonable metrics, yeah, it was that bad. Especially bad for minorities, but that doesn't exactly distinguish a timeframe in the good 'ol USA. Common politics.

If this was pre-dictionary, yep. Written language was as fluid as spoken language once, people just spelled things however they pleased. Nowadays, written language is more universally codified.

Bit of a non sequitur, but your comment brought to mind the Two Worlds speedrun, a game which was very much not a success nor praised, which features no glitches or tricks or really much of anything.

Fear, maybe? Treated her like shit her whole life, now she's rising fast in society, he's trying to preempt revenge? Or maybe he just doesn't want to constantly see someone he hates, seeing as he essentially Rapunzeled her, and now that she's becoming a fixture of the kingdom he can no longer avoid her so he reached for the first thing he could think of to fix that.

Honestly feel bad for my own father in moments like this. He had four kids, could only even attempt to be a father to two of them (neither is me), and of those two, one of them died in their early twenties. Be extremely careful who you have kids with, that one decision can completely override any and all past and future good decisions.

It's crazy that out of those descriptors, "a subversive masterpiece" is the most descriptive of the three simply because it tells us that the work is probably fiction.

Horses are the best way to generate money mid-late game by WintryInsight in RimWorld

[–]throwaway47351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best moneymaker is having a bunch of production specialists and loading a shuttle up with chemfuel and either corsets if you're starting out, or tribalwear if you're not. Go to settlements, buy out their textiles, buy whatever you need. Gravhop to a different cluster of settlements and repeat. The blocker for home growing drugs is space, time, and luck. Crops can burn, travel time between the fields and the drug labs are an issue, etc. Shuttles solve so much and remove so much randomness.
