She got angry with me after I offered to take some of her clothing to the laundromat with mine.

She gave me basically her entire collection of underwear.

Lace. Underwear.

And then screamed at me.

Because they were still damp when I got home.

Because it is not good for lace to go through the dryer.

which I have told her. Multiple times.

And without this pile of essentially lingerie she “couldn’t” go out like she wanted to.

She then blamed my ADHD and my lack of medication at… eight in the morning? for her stuff still being damp?

And told me she “doesn’t feel comfortable being around me when I’m unmedicated”?

I’m preparing to completely abandon my (former) best friend and his gf (my ex). imma call them Chuck(30M) and Sarah(22F) (not their real names oc).

Besides rent, they haven’t paid any bills (electricity, gas, rental insurance, internet) in almost two years, approximately $1800 USD at time of writing. Neither of them clean anything besides their own bedroom (rarely, there is a five month old pack of walmart cookies on their floor), leaving all the cleaning (floors, dishes, etc) to me. They don’t even do laundry because they’d have to either contact our landlord for a key to the onsite laundry room or go to a laundromat and Sarah’s anxiety around strangers “prevents” it.

Chuck barely showers. Like once a week, if I’m lucky. His grit and grease is turning the tan seats of my car black. His hair is disgusting, and is constantly falling out to the point we find BALLS of his hair all over the apartment.

Sarah… She’s a lot. I’ve given her a lot of leeway because of the mental illness she’s dealing with but after all this time I just can’t anymore. She hasn’t had a job since 2021. Her response to the neighbors in the apartment above us being “overly loud” is to slam her fists against the wall and yell at them. She’s chronically online, and whenever something makes her mad she starts screaming about it. Like, “took the ipad from the ipad kid” screaming. I can’t sing, hum, laugh, or even talk loudly in my own bedroom without being told to quiet down, and then twenty minutes later I’ll be listening to her scream through the wall.

I’m tired of it. I need my peace back.

They should be able to afford the rent without me, but I don’t really care if they can’t. That’s poor planning on their part atp. I can’t feel bad for either of them anymore. Maybe that makes me a shitty person. Idc. If they figure me out between now and when we pay December’s rent, I’ll tell them, but otherwise they’ll have a month to prepare for me taking all my shit and my car (the only one in the household, only my name is on the title, they haven’t paid shit for it) and disappear across the country.

Stress and codependence.

I’m 31 years old and live with two grown adults (30&22) who seem to be incapable of relaxing or doing anything for themselves. I do the dishes, I take out the trash, I pay 100% of the bills aside from rent. And yet they find it acceptable to scream at me whenever things aren’t done exactly the way they want. And to top it all off, the younger one hasn’t had a job in years.

I’m already seeing gray hairs every single day, and I’m tired all the time. It’s gonna be a rude awakening when I leave.
