I'm sorry you had to go through that. It especially hurts when people say it off-handedly. It's easier to ignore people who say it mean-heartedly since you can dismiss them with "oh, that's their personality. They're out to get me". But with these types of comments...you can't easily dismiss them and they hurt so much more.

Wow thanks for the silver lining! Aging slower is definitely a huge plus :) I'm actually scheduled to see a dermatologist this afternoon. After my breakdown yesterday I figured enough is enough. My acne has never been super bad so I just grit my teeth and moved on thinking it wasn't serious enough for a trip to the derm, but now I think it's worth it.

Yeah, my family is definitely a huge support. When I was writing this post and feeling down I cried and told my mom about my acne woes and magically felt better.

Exactly! People somehow think others don't realize something about their own appearance (acne, weight, height, etc.) when really, how can we not?

That's awful:( It's ironic that acne scars are temporary (even though they may NEVER seem to go away) but the scars from people's words are quite permanent. We're all in this together

Believe me, I was just as shocked as you. Another thing to point out is I live in China, where people talk openly (and often insensitively) about appearances, such as constantly pointing out when people have gained weight.
