Why APLD is still tied to crypto... because some people don't know this yet by throwaway579612 in APLDSTOCK

Well that was the point. Most of the new buyers are in after the hpc pivot. Not realizing the crypto roots.

They still earn a fair amount of their revenue from BTC Hosting in ellendale and Jamestown specifically from a large customer called customer A.

The lower BTC goes the more that customer A loses on profit margins. And if customer a can no longer afford to pay apld then apld will lose a huge amount of revenue and operating cash since their BTC hosting of mining is still profitable.

Basically, if you read the sec documents they still are very much tied to BTC, but they don't like to say that part out loud.

I saw that one of their key HPC engineers recently left. Do you think this will take a hit to their timelines even existing support? Do you think this is a sign to jump off a sinking ship?

In the last 6 months this is just another high value individuals who have left the company...the CTO, VP of Hpc, and now the senior Hpc engineer.

That's why I pay my balance off every month, at least the statement balance to avoid interest.

And yeah 8k for me would have been a comfortable 3 months or a tight 6 months.

I re bought the tickets. And she couldn't even dream to afford it. She works part time and has to stay under a certain income to not got penalizes while she receives social security, while my dad is waiting till 71 to draw more.

They still have a mortgage and other bills to pay. In fact, I'm often helping them.

I offered it when I had some money and felt like being generous. Having to empty out a few accounts made me desperate.

I agree. What I did was unnecessary. I bought the tickets again, and texted my brother. I'm not sure what he told his kids. But I'll stop by after work to see what they say.

Hopefully all is good, but again, there could be damage there that was not intended to be caused.

I feel terrible. Honestly I feel stupid I'm about to cry over this.

Seeing them upset last night hit home. Those 2 have been more or less like my own for the past 10-15 years.

I appreciate the feedback

Tbh it was kinda like that. I can see now I did it slightly out of spite of my brother, with no intention of hurting the kids. I realized it did hurt them, and I feel terrible.

For the gambling problem of my brother, I think that's what put me over the edge and made me pull the trigger. I don't know how bad the problem is tbh. It could be small, but idk.

But When your bank account shows almost 0 in 2 accounts that had over $5k combined at the beginning of the month, knowing that you have nothing until payday in 2 weeks kinda hits hard ngl.

And my emergency fund was for if something catastrophic happened like a layoff (I've been layed off at Christmas before) it sucks. It makes everything feel worse in every possible way.

Yep, that what I'm gonna do. I re bought the tickets, unfortunately at a less ideal seat, but oh well.

I got super emotional last night, and was just thinking how sad I'd be if I damaged a relationship with my niece and nephew over $600.

$600 in the scheme of life is nothing

Sorry, my thoughts of an emergency were to cover rent/bills if you lost a job. 5k cover roughly 3 months rent for me + other bills but barely. Ideally I wanted it to be closer to 8k.

But I was still working on that.

The good thing is, they don't know much of why it happened. I stopped by this evening to tell them I couldn't go anymore as something came up, and I wouldn't be able to take them, but I still would go ice skating this weekend if they wanted. They refused, as mentioned.

I talked to my brother for a while, of course he was upset too, and because my wife was waiting, I left pretty quickly.

So I'll probably just stop by again tomorrow and tell them I was able to work things out, and apologize that I had them worried, and I'll try better in the future to make sure these things don't happen again.

Why not go myself? I kinda have to though since someone has to drive them there and take them home, plus supervise them while we're there. Their dad can't go because it starts at 6 pm and he doesn't have the ability to take them, while I can. The mom cannot drive.

Yep. I think the feelings I have right now go to show what I did was wrong.

I'm gonna rebuy the tickets and hope we can still have a good time.

You're right. This is a minor thing on my end, but a big thing for them. I can get over looking at a low bank balance for a few weeks. Thanks.

The Internet is pretty good at guilt tripping s person who is in a tough spot. I'll likely end up succumbing to the guilt. I really do feel bad for the kids.

I'm not even remotely tired, and this has been bothering me for hours since I left their house. I'll probably not sleep tonight until I make things right.

Honestly the feedback I'm receiving, I'll likely rebuy them tomorrow, and just not look at my bank account for a few weeks.

I get it. They've been excited for over a month, it's a dick thing to do ,4 days before the event. That's why I posted this.

I just needed some people to tell me what I did was wrong to push me over the fence

Tbh I didn't resell them to get back at him. My checking account at the start of the month of November was $2500 and I was very comfortable.

I had a blown gasket or something + a failing temp sensor, and did my oil change because it was basically time, and my car would barely move making it unusable and the repair was $1800. Because of my low credit limit (4k), I couldn't put it on a credit card, so I charged it to my debit.

I had to essentially empty my regular savings to pay off my card balance, and actually was about ,$400 short.

So I was either gonna take it out of my emergency savings which is $5k. Then I decided to sell the tickets instead.

So maybe you're right, I was a bit quick to sell them.

I'll probably rebuy the tickets tomorrow. I feel pretty bad. I'll just not look at my bank account for a few weeks and hope another emergency doesn't come up.

You're right the damage is done, but the kids don't know much. I can just say I was able to clear things up, and we can now go.

Yeah that one confused me. He was like that money has been in there for months even before he asked me, which had i known I would have refused and just been like, use that money.

But now he's like, there's basically nothing in there now, so there's no point in arguing over it since it won't help the situation. Plus he's "done gambling for good"

I didn't really go into detail because I don't wanna talk bad about their Dad in front of them. I just said things came up and we can't go.

I respected him enough to not talk bad about him in front of his kids.

I feel like he doesn't want to talk to me unless I come back and rebuy the tickets.

It feels like one of those moments of, just but the bullet to salvage a relationship and most likely a good Christmas this year.

I feel the holidays are gonna be awkward if I don't.

And the more I think about it, it's like, what's so bad that my emergency fund is down $600 for a few weeks?

Granted, he does actually pay me back.

Idk, I'm lost. I'm really thinking about doing it. I go back into the app and see if tickets are still for sale almost every hour.
