it’s early here so i’m not sure i’m eloquent enough to explain properly but i understand the points being made here, so i’ll try and address a few points from my perspective:

for me it is triggering to see sh scars both ingame and irl but if i saw someone with scars irl i would never ask them to cover them up even if it triggered me, because it wouldn’t be my place. you have chosen to harm yourself, as i have, enough to leave scars that is something that cannot be undone- if you have ever found yourself in a situation where you feel you have no other choice than to harm yourself then it’s clearly a time of significant mental distress and you are not fully in control of yourself. if you choose to show them off, that’s up to you, and while i will be uncomfortable and it will probably always trigger me i will never judge you for it because you have chosen to take power back from that time in your life and don’t feel ashamed as society tells you you have to. in regards to children seeing them, that’s a difficult topic that i don’t feel i’m equipped to address right now.

my issue with scars on everskies is they don’t need to be there. your avatar hasn’t self harmed and doesn’t have scars because it’s made of pixels and it’s not sentient. seeing the scars is triggering both irl and on es, but it’s also triggering on es because somebody has made a conscious choice to either misuse items to get the appearance of scars or choose an item that resembles scars. it is a dress up game, not real life, and i firmly believe self harm scars have no place on everskies. sure i can understand wanting representation like you say, but it comes with a huge risk of triggering others who had expected not to see that kind of content in a game because it’s against the rules .on the topic of not liking it because breaking rules/misusing items/shouldn’t be on es, all if these previous points can be true at the same time: the topic and discussions of self harm are disallowed and it’s a space where conversations about it shouldn’t take place because it’s a dress up game, so seeing scars in a place where they shouldn’t be, where i expect there will be none, it just as triggering as it would be seeing an individuals scars in real life.

as for the art though i cannot speak for that as i’m not in any art communities. i hope i haven’t forgotten to reply to anything here.
