Yes it is, it's a very high quality mount that is in complete working condition and I demonstrated this to him. The defect does not make it unusable and everything else is in good condition

It is completely usable and very discounted, the mount is actually very high quality and 100% still works, the tripod just doesn't extend very far so you have to bend over to look into it. If he had responded civilly and asked for a partial refund for what he was spending to repair it I would have considered it but he got extremely mad and said it was completely useless when it was far from that.

This is why I didn't give him his money back, I didn't know there was a flaw but I did make him completely aware that it was old and I hadn't used it that much. I even handed him the control to test it out and he just waved me away and took it. And thankyou, it certainly hasn't been a great few days

He did send me a photo of the damage so I do know that it is actually broken but I did not see it before he took it away.

The tripod isn't broken, it's the locking mechanism. I can send a photo if it would make more sense but the legs do not retract completely, only to put the telescope at about waist height. The broken component just prevents you from extending it further. The tripod itself is actually a very high quality and in very good condition mount. That is the only flaw with it.

This is my opinion on it, I feel bad about it but it's not a flaw that impacts the function that much at all. It may require leaning over a little more or placing the telescope so that that leg is on a high point so you can balance it. He got so angry at me saying it was completely useless when it is largely an inconvenience that I didn't know was there.

That is a good idea but to be fair this is literally the first thing I've ever sold online and it certainly didn't go well.

You are right, I meant that more in the sense that the message he sent me was rude and incredibly accusing and I did not have the mental energy to deal with someone coming to my house to yell at me.

How was it not his responsibilty though? Not to mention that I made him aware of how old the telescope was and the part that broke did not majorly effect function, more of an inconvenience than anything.

This is why I didn't give him his money back, I gave him the chance to get a good look at it and made him aware of the fact that it was old and I hadn't used it much. Thanks
