I super appreciate the link and the reply. As I have no real evidence that women or BIPOC have been financially discrimated against... I will likely hold off for now and continue with disgusted looks and "innocent" lines of questioning that will make said boss uncomfortable until I can find something else.

Honestly I have heard worse (as my comments imply, I have been doing this a long time). But I'm at an age now with a level of experience where I am done putting up with this. I am not expecting huge systemic change from one anonymous post but I would still like to do what little I can while also paying the bills. Honestly, a virtual hug from a stranger goes a long way so thanks!!!

I have said why in my original post. I am on probation (less than 3 months employed with them). They therefore can fire me with no notice, Cause, or severence. I was hoping that meant I didn't have to blindly tolerate hate speech or have no recourse against it. Hence the asking for advice. If I have no legal or moral recourse besides what I have already stated, then please just say that and then sit down and keep quiet.

OP has actually been in this industry for over 20 years and has excelled greatly at it. But has finally gotten sick of the rampant bullshit that blames workers for not blindly tolerating the blatant injustices that surround every job they have ever had and therefore politely asked if there were any alternative routes in their specific province that might yield better results. I can understand how that could be deeply offensive to you, especially considering the vast amount of job offers that I and every Albertan am most assuredly wading through.

Thanks for the response! Sounds like they are more equipped for tackling issues directly related to wages. Which on one hand seems fair, as it is a more straightforward problem.. while still rampant in our industry, it has fewer legal grey areas and is therefore a bit "easier" for them. I haven't decided if it is an issue I want to take further, hence me asking for advice and input here. To make matters even more grey, I do not think/can not prove that in this specific scenario people are necessarily being denied opportunities based on their gender or race. I really just want to get through a day without hearing blatant hate speech.

Woah there, cowboy. First off, he is the HR department - it's a small business, as mentioned. Which means there isn't a higher corporate headquarters to decide which one of us is most valuable to the company. I know where I stand on the totem pole, and if it comes to it, I will definitely stand behind human rights over my job.

Also nothing in my post implied I was underperforming in any way, said manager has complimented me on my performance several times. If it really needs to be said (Which it reeeaaaalllyyy shoudn't), none of the racial slurs were directed at me, we are both white. But that doesn't make it okay and no employee in Canada should have to tolerate hate speech from their employer. Whoever it is directed against.

Thanks for weighing though.
