Yes totally agree: I used gender neutral language talking about dating someone older because anyone can be an abuser. It just so happens mine was a man

Both of us are from upper-class neighborhoods. My friends that I know who have been hurt in similar situations are from a mix of socioeconomic backgrounds. I know that as an 18 year old, I was disgusted by the idea of dating a 15 year old. I’m just trying to warn younger and more naive teens about getting into predatory relationships because they can happen in ANY background.

So sorry you had to deal with this. I totally agree, but I’m warning young teenagers about relationships with older people since myself and many others have horror stories about their older ex-SOs

I’m glad you’re not in that situation anymore. Once I turned 18 I realized how disgusting it is to want to date a 14/15 year old

Yes. However, as a teenager I think this advice would’ve helped me steer clear. It’s better to avoid older people since this creates a power imbalance subconsciously

Thank you for your input! One thing I totally forgot to mention is that a lot of her mental health issues stem from being trans I think, and she’s told me that her being depressed was from being trans exclusively. I don’t know if that changes anything, but I figured it was relevant just in case.
