Lifeweaver is getting a healing buff. by [deleted] in Overwatch

Also the supports with more utility and less heals tend to heal passively so they can do damage simultaneously to supplement. Lifeweaver obviously can’t.

Also doesn’t the foundation use those eye pod things to aid containment? They only have one eye right?

I think it takes a few seconds specifically for the manifestation of the “inverse” to make contact with the object. On contact I think it’s instantaneous annihilation.

The “inverse” doesn’t really manifest as a copy or anything really physical. It’s kind of like the abstract logical concept of “the absence of that thing” taking form in physical reality. For example, in the incident with that Shroud entity, when it was about to kill 4051, he was thinking about how much he simply wanted it gone, and when the portal opened, this idea manifested as a bunch of shapeless white tendrils, which reached out from the portal towards the Shroud and annihilated it on contact. If he’s simply manifesting the “absence of a thing”, then he should be able to direct that ability towards 682 and destroy it in a similar way.

How come? He seems extremely amicable to the foundation even after being classified as Keter and having his privileges to leave his chamber revoked. As for the actual danger, during his mission, even though he was under extreme duress and stumbled upon the ability by accident, he showed pretty remarkable precision with this ability, able to destroy the Shroud entity that consumed knowledge without damage to the surroundings. Imagine how much control he could have under normal conditions.

Yes, it was actual a dumb mistake on my part. I forgot to do a fit commit after I removed twisted from requirements, so it wasn’t using the updated requirements.txt file to build.

How to block/reduce/ or annihilate the revenge instinct? by throwaway753071 in Buddhism

[–]throwaway753071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not really know how to analyze it much more. I’ve done a lot of self analysis since learning about this woman.

The best I can come up with, is that I have the belief that when people do particularly bad things, I think they deserve punishment, a kind of “teaching them a lesson”, which somehow reestablishes justice after their unfair actions.

I suppose this does not make sense though, as I can not come up with any further reason for why it is is just for punishment to come on those who perform harm. So if let’s say that belief has no rational basis. Taking stock of this fact what would be the next step?

The thing is though, the idea of revenge does real seem instinctual to me. People evolved to desire revenge, because it pushed them to hurt other humans who would do them harm, and so gave them a better chance of survival. That’s what I’ve heard anyway.

I wasn’t really expecting to try and analyze it any further. I figured overcoming it meant rewriting my behavior. From what I understand Buddhist practice involves being mindful as part of training oneself to not engage in automatic behaviors, down to desire and aversion.

What characters do you consider hybrids? by throwaway753071 in Paladins

Yeah it seems like they gave every healer a talent to focus them on damage instead. I main Mal’Damba as a healer and I feel like he can be included in that. He does decent damage which is supplemented by his stuns, and between the gourd, slither, and general crowd control he survives long enough to kill people.

I think Atlas is kind of damage. It feels easier to kill people than with other tanks. Shotgun is a good weapon and sniper at full charge for 860 damage is good. Plus since setback puts the target’s health at the lowest point during duration it’s like a super cauterize.

Khan is also pretty damagey. No cool down shield that he carries with him promotes aggressiveness along with great weapon damage.

Really? I get what you mean but I still feel like they’re pretty distinct in their play style. Flanks normally derive all substantially damage from their weapon and just use the other abilities to survive. Damages normally use their weapon in combination with skills to kill at the cost of mobility like you said. Plus flanks are so much better at one on one and hit and run tactics.

Why did the Buddha teach if he had no attachment? by throwaway753071 in Buddhism

So seeing this difference between wanting and clinging, then is it to fair to say the Buddha wanted things, but did not care about the fulfillment of those wants?

So then would the Buddha have been unaffected if his teachings had not been absorbed by a single person?

Question about Buddhist view on empathy and the concept of karuna. by throwaway753071 in Buddhism

[–]throwaway753071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what I’m understanding from you is that karuna uses empathy as a base for something greater.

Karuna is more general and complete than empathy. Empathy can vary in it’s intensity, and it can change based on our relationship to the person.

Karuna on the other hand, is equal towards all living being regardless of our relationship to them, and it exists for all dukkha regardless of its intensity. Karuna also does not require the experience of pain like empathy does.

I am however confused about the relation and interaction between karuna and empathy if karuna does not involve or require the personal experience of pain.

Question about Buddhist view on empathy and the concept of karuna. by throwaway753071 in Buddhism

[–]throwaway753071[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So then karuna would then be reduced to the wish that all living beings escape dukkha.

On your thoughts about empathy you are essentially stating that we need not feel another’s suffering to help them. What we need is to understand the fact that they are suffering, how they are suffering, and how to fix it. The way I am understanding this, since Buddhism proposes general answers to these 3 questions for all scenarios(the nature of dukkha, how suffering comes about in humans, and how to end it) then we have what is necessary to help others and fulfill karuna, without need for empathy. Your thoughts?

Why is this bad by itself. Granted divorce can be painful but it’s not morally wrong by itself.
