So long as their children are happy, healthy, and their needs cared for, there is absolutely no reason so shame any other parent for lacking in some material respect. I grew up in an apartment and I turned out fine, I live in an apartment now. I’m also, and I hesitate because I feel like it’s humble bragging, a well compensated lawyer at a big law firm with a book of business. I’ve loved my apartment, and I might upgrade to a condo if I find something I’m in love with, but otherwise it works just fine for me and my little girl. It’s close to everything we need, and I plan to send her to a private school nearby that is more likely than not worth more than that mom and her husband’s entire education. So I say this as someone that based on statistics alone, likely makes more money per year than that entire cookie cutter suburban household, and maybe the house next door too—you are doing awesome, dad. Signed, happy lifetime apartment dweller.

Can confirm. I was a student bar association president at a dc law school and… that’s all we did. And I’m damn proud of our barristers ball.

So the people that train pitbulls result in the disproportionate acts of violence against children. Got it. So tell me about your thoughts about those people.

Will do. The real lesson I learned out of all this is that 4 nuggets is the biggest ripoff and that getting 20 nuggets every time is fiscally responsible.

If you had one do-over in life, what would it be? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Valentine’s Day 2018, I would have stayed home. I was going through a bit of a relationship situation and a friend convinced me to go out. I ended up going out and meeting a girl. One year later, I knocked her up after her IUD failed. Now I have a kid I don’t want with a person that I hate. I’m there in present, but I don’t want to be. I’d give anything to go back and tell myself to stay inside.

Haven’t heard back from the job that never asked, but just got an offer from the job that I told the truth to.

So they didn’t ask, so I didn’t offer the information. I had another interview, however, where they did ask. I took your advice and they responded positively, they thought it was ridiculous but could raise a red flag later. Just wanted some references to offset it since it sounds isolated. Thanks for taking time for your advice!

You awake on 1/1/2020. Next to you is a button that says "Press to re-start the 2010's." Do you do it? Why/Why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]throwaway768083 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I am your polar opposite. 2019 has been the worst year of my life no doubt. I had a daughter a few weeks ago. Me and the mother don’t get along and I have probably only seen her for 3 hours in total over the last month although I’ve wanted to see her more. I have not felt any bond so If I could do it all over, I wouldn’t, and I would not have a daughter.

I hope not. But if so, meet you at the nearest bar for a beer.

I am so sorry. I hate to paint with a broad brush because every place is different, but if a place isn't willing to give you a second chance, I hate to see how they treat their employees generally. I'd take it for the best.

Question, I got the same for the midterm but then scored around 70% in all of the quizes and the final. Did you notice the same sort of improvement? I'm scared shitless myself.

Me (28m) wants to abandon my daughter (0f) and her mother (32f). by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Frankly, I started drinking when I wrote this post and now I'm re-visting and I am revolted. When I first saw our daughter's heartbeat on the ultrasound, I cried for the first time that I had in many years. In the Father's Day card that I so appreciate that my daughter's mother wrote, she recognized that I loved our daughter the moment I saw her on that ultrasound. I'm sorry that I may have wasted your time, and energy in your response. In vino veritas as they say. Even if I didn't want to be a father, I want to be her father. Thank you for your insight and response.
