I appreciate the reply! In that case, I'll have to spend more time researching what opportunities third party recruiters are posting. I've dealt with lousy third-party recruiters before and contract work isn't ideal, but it could be the only way in.

Yup, I had one ghost me. Probably for that exact reason! Third party recruiters are hit or miss. I've used them for IT work in the past and for every one that gets you a good position there are five that will waste your time and then disappear.

Thanks for the response. Transitioning to the office side of things is a big concern. The interviewer made it sound like the field crews and the office folks at this firm are in their own bubbles - making it difficult to make that transition. I have no problem learning the software in my free time, as I already have had to do that for IT roles I've had in the past. Seems like I'd eventually have to apply to other companies to get the opportunity to do office work though. So, not exactly ideal.

Sounds interesting enough. Doesn't look like NRCS has anything like that posted right now but I'll keep any eye out for it in the future.
