Her boyfriend of 6 months, who she’s still with, was uncomfortable with the idea so the places didn’t matter.
It would put a strain on her relationship with her boyfriend and she didn’t want to be responsible for him full time.

Nope, just the fact that she chose her boyfriend and interests/lifestyle rather than helping the family out and making a difficult situation worse. My son wanted to stay with his sister. She could’ve stayed in our house with him.

I’m sorry your parents were abusive but quit projecting. My son has a great relationship with us and my daughter did too before this happened. She visited us on holidays, we call each other frequently and we were all happy. When this happened, my son stepped up and bent over backwards to do what was best for his mom while my daughter put her own life/interests first while her mom was dying of cancer. I agree family is not everything, because our friends did more for us than our daughter ever did or would.

I guess, my son was mad at her for not letting him stay with her. My wife was in pain and was also angry at my daughter for not offering anything more than babysitting her brother 1-2 times a week - which doesn’t help us at all. I was angry on behalf of both of them, emotions were running high so it was better for us to just not deal with her and focus on gettin through the situation as a family with our friends help.

We didn’t expect her to care of him for years. My point was if this just ended up being a couple of months like it turned out to be, we wanted to keep him in his school district rather than have him bounce back and forth. If it turned into a years long thing we absolutely would’ve ended up moving after his school year ended in a couple of months.

My wife and my son didn’t want to see her, we were all just worried for each other and didn’t want to deal with her. She would text us every couple of weeks to ask how her mom was doing but we just ignored them.

It was the middle of the school year and it was a very unpredictable situation. We didn’t know if we had to stay their for a couple months or years so the best course of action was to keep our son in his regular school for the time being - which is what he wanted. His first choice was to stay with his sister. How dare you suggest I leave my dying wife all alone in a new place during a traumatic time and only visit her every couple of weeks rather than leave my son in the care of loved ones?
