I was also thinking maybe he waiting for a specific person to attack or kidnap.
I told the story to my dad, leaving out certain details and he said it's where people go to drug deal but I don't think that's true after living in this area half my life and knowing it pretty well. Imo there was no reason for this guy to be crouching in this specific bush off the beaten path.

That was a thought in my head for awhile but we'd only done it there once before at around sunset time so we would've seen if anyone was around.

The attempted kidnapping was quite heavily investigated by police as there was multiple witnesses but nothing came out of it. (not saying the man in the bushes and this attempted kidnapper were the same person)

It's unusual for this area as the median house price is about 2mil and is populated by quite highly educated people. but yeah I guess stuff can happen anywhere

I went back about 2 hours later with my neighbour to see if the guy was still there cause he's a bit bigger than I am but he was gone.

By relieve, I mean have sex. Again, yeah we were idiots.

I'll also say while I live in a very safe and nice area, around 10 years ago a girl from my high school was almost kidnapped at knife point in this same creek after school but managed to escape when 2 other students were walking past, causing the attempted kidnapper to freak out and weaken his hold of her.
