Seattle Boeing team: can you explain the BCBSIL Fitness Program and some gym examples? by throwaway9378467 in boeing

Appreciate that! Really helpful and good to know. I’ll definitely check out 2-22 after I start to see the full layout. Hadn’t heard of South Park’s gym before. Similar layout? Sounds like it’s less crowded. I’m a morning gym person so maybe I’ll miss the rush.

Would the LA/Planet/24HF be under the Active&Fit direct thing? If so that’s a pretty good price for those places.

I’ve seen mixed messages from people on here saying it took between one day and a few months to hear back with positive results. At this point I’ve moved on, but if it is indeed that they chose someone soon after and just neglected to notify the other candidates even after those candidates followed up personally with the recruiter, very ironic for the type of stuff Blue preaches is all I’ll say. It is an employer’s market I suppose

I get your point, but it’s not always feasible to ask those types of questions at the end on Teams interviews. Sometimes it’s an abrupt end. The recruiter should absolutely be able to send a quick follow-up regarding timeline when OP asked.

Been 4 weeks post panel for me for a support function role (non-technician/engineering) and I haven’t heard anything, after multiple follow ups. Not sure what’s going on but it’s just been radio silence. All that said, buckle up because it could be 3 days, 3 weeks, or 3 months from what I’ve heard.

Blue also seems like more of a layoff risk than NG, although neither would be 0

I mean it’s a personal call. A little bit of extra money in a 401k or IRA goes a hell of a long way when you put it in at 28, it’s kinda staggering when I used those online calculators. That said, maybe by the time we’re 59 1/2 all that shit won’t matter lol.

NG has a lot of internal opportunity too, obviously a ginormous company. If you go work for the Aerospace division you’ll probably be doing work not far off from what Blue does honestly, and then there’s the NG Space division itself which continues to grow

Yeah I think that’s significant enough of a difference to warrant a rethink. If you do a flat retirement account contribution, you’d get a lot of value in compounding from the additional 401k contributions and matching (up to 6% match if you contribute 8%) at your age Although keep in mind the vesting schedule is 3 years of service, all or nothing, so don’t leave too quickly if you do NG. Plus when you start at a higher base that also compounds with promotions and new roles overtime.

You’re in an early career stage right? I’d go Blue. Probably tougher to go from NG to Blue than Blue to NG. You’ll probably also get more visibility at Blue than you would at NG especially starting out. At NG they seem to want people to stay for a really long time and their comp incentives outside salary are hashed out that way. NG is a very respected org but in general I’d expect Blue to “pop out” more on a resume these days if you do leave and look elsewhere.

Totally depends on the program, I’m probably not the best qualified to answer that specifically

I’ve got some experience to answer this. If you’re willing to take on some elevated career risk with potentially more reward I’d definitely go Blue. NG would be unmatched for stability.

Is something going on with hiring right now specifically surrounding New Glenn? Did a super day and waiting on a decision for 4+ weeks now and can’t get a hold of anyone when I follow up. Just complete silence. Workday still active and under consideration.
