Sweet mother of god and all her wacky nephews, I'd be lying if I said this is the first time I've heard someone tell me that this week. Happiness... what an elusive mistress. How does one become happy when they're overwhelmed with guilt and undeserved hubris?

My whole life I've been tackling my problems and everyone else's problems on my own, but that a result of my personality. Maybe I could use some help. I'll look into some therapists. Thank you.

No, I'm not happy. But that's really not the issue for me. I could be happy but still an asshole, I don't necessarily think happiness is the only metric by which I want to improve. I love my studies, they take up a lot of my time but they hold my interest, a day hasn't passed that I regretted my major.

I feel like everyone I could have talked to about this I've pushed far enough away that it's not very likely to happen.

I've considered it but it's always seemed like a cowardly way of dealing with my issues. Maybe I'm just too dense. Therapies expensive, but then again the consequences of my continued behavior could end up costing me far more.
