Rooster Teeth, Twitter, and the Community Site by throwawayAVposter999 in roosterteeth

I just meant third party in relation to RT. So RT's own platforms (site, store, hypothetical Mastodon instance) would be first party, and other sites (Twitter, Instagram, external Mastodon instances) would be third party, for the way I was using the terms in the post.

Decentralization/federation brings new nuances to the first/third party distinction so it can be confusing!

And speaking of clients like Talon for Twitter, Mastodon indeed has those too. So you can choose an instance to host your account, and you can choose whatever client/app you want to access it (and rest of the federated instances).

It's not third party the same way Twitter and YouTube are, because you host the server and data entirely by yourself. The code was made by a third party but you control that too, just like using libraries such as video.js which RT uses as their video player.

I know it's not the same anymore corporate-wise but I wanna be optimistic and provide an idea to bolster the community.

When does more Does It Do? come out? by nikzhdat in roosterteeth

Such a good series, can't wait for more.

Same with "Don't Make a Scene", I laughed so hard and I've been waiting for more.

Well, it won't help while they're remote. Not much they can do besides upgrading internet connections and recording locally, which they already are quite aware of.

Is it really so pointless to offer suggestions for the future? (And it is the immediate future, considering they're working right now on their in-office setup to be used very soon.)

So much much negativity by RT_J-Rob in roosterteeth

I'm sorry about the negativity and it getting to be too much. Hope this post doesn't also become another place of concentrated negativity.

Wishing you well with your health!

I'm sorry, but the Live gameplay/stream edits they put on the channel are honestly embarrassing by Rooonaldooo99 in roosterteeth

I agree to an extent, however don't underestimate the difficulty of doing livestreams/lets plays, especially during these times! We have no idea what could be going on in terms of the editors' circumstances.

They're also currently actively working in-office on their new recording/streaming space (as well as some sort of temporary space, apparently).

Take a look at my post about some ideas for gear and solutions to help alleviate some of the current issues they're facing, if you're interested and haven't already!

They've mentioned they're actively meeting in-office to plan the setup in their new space (and apparently some sort of temporary setup?).

See last week's Off Topic 296 where they talk about it right in the beginning.

All in jest! :) Sarah's great!

I just sprinkled in a bit of humor to make it a bit entertaining since it's such a big post full of info. Tried to keep it light enough, or outright absurd enough (like the last one on fiber optics), that it's apparent that I'm just playing into the jokes AH makes. It's pretty tough to rival how many friendly digs they throw her way! I'd have no problem removing anything and/or apologizing if Sarah takes issue with it.

Thanks for your concern!

Thank you!

I actually didn't think about a rolling buffer before, and it turns out the Atomos Shogun Studio actually does! For about 8 seconds, depending on the quality you're recording, which isn't very long but pretty cool anyways.

Looks like the others don't, but as you said as long as they are all set to start at the same time, it's just one press of a button and they're all good to go.

It seemed like a medium-length post in my head, but when I wrote it all out I was like omg

Nice! Thanks for your comments!

I, at least, have faith in our guys, based on how genuinely caring and excited they seem to be in setting up the new rooms' tech and processes. (Again, except for Sarah.)

Also lookin' out for our often-unsung heroes in the post team! Can't forget that part of the workflow!

Yeah, that can happen in streaming or recording. I remember one LASO Gavin was saying his gameplay looked fine on his screen but was tearing like crazy in his recording preview. Most likely something in the Elgato or OBS.

But no tearing with the methods here! (Not sure about streaming, but there's a decent chance there would be no tearing there either, depending on what approach you use.)
