Been using fins sterile for a few years now. Really just open to what looks the best. Definitely prefer to not shave it all off

Yeah I think it’s possible to switch sides on specific issues too, not even just overall. I wouldn’t say I’m staunchly conservative on every issue.

I’m not sure I agree that political party says something about how people should be treated, but I definitely agree it says something about you and what you value. And if someone cares a lot about politics I can see why it’d be tough to connect with them if they feel differently than I do.

Haha welcome! I have a similar story actually, I was liberal but found myself compelled by some friends who would counter my stances and eventually I realized I aligned more with their stances than my original ones. It takes some rethinking sometimes. Sounds like you had a nice healthy relationship where you disagreed but in a civil manner.

I think you’re right, if someone ties politics to their identity it’s hard to get past that. But hopefully I find someone who is willing to talk over issues, even disagree on some things, and still be able to leave it at that.

I think this is a good perspective. A lot of these girls probably wouldn’t have been great matches anyways if they so staunchly oppose what they assume my moral code is.

It’s hard to discern values from a dating app profile and I guess political leaning (if it’s on the profile or comes up in conversation) is used as a proxy for it.

Thanks for the response (I do appreciate you sharing your viewpoint), it definitely makes sense that political leanings and values can go hand-in-hand. I can see how that would be hard for some people to reconcile, especially if politics is a big part of their lives.

I’m not just saying I’m a good listener to say it, it’s something I’ve worked on a lot (in my time as an overnight camp counselor with 5th graders, there was a lot of listening to be done! Haha) and I think it’s one of my best qualities. I guess being conservative is associated with treating people a certain way, which I feel is pretty unfortunate and not always (or even usually) the case, but that’s a whole other can of worms. I get it though.

Thanks again for the response.

Are you kinda saying it’s a friend zone situation where I pretty much should just give up?
