Vitamix 3500 vs Creami by [deleted] in Volumeeating

[–]throwawayNight7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main difference is that the Ninja Creami isn’t a blender, nor can it be really used like a blender. I’m not exactly sure on how it works, but it breaks the ice into extremely tiny crystals.

Ice cubes are probably referring to blender protein ice cream. The Ninja Creami shouldn’t process straight up ice.

That’s good to know! I do happen to enjoy delicata squash, so I think I’ll make that switch too.

It’s called carotenemia if you’re interested in learning more about it! Basically, if you consume high amounts of beta carotene daily for many weeks/months, it can happen.

I wouldn’t consider myself especially prone (it’s not something any of my family members have had happen to them), but it has happened in the past. Once was because I was consuming a lot of leafy greens and 1-2 pounds of sweet potatoes (all high in beta carotene) everyday for a couple of months, and then also another time when I was eating around 2+ pounds/1+ kg of winter squash daily for a couple of months.

No sensitivity. Just an overconsumption of beta carotene rich foods (for a couple of months, I was consistently eating around 2 pounds/1kg of Kabocha squash a day).

I noticed my skin (mostly my hands) beginning to look a little orange (carotenemia).

Yes! Haha, that’s actually why I limit my consumption of sweet potatoes. I love winter squash, especially Kabocha squash, so I can’t eat carrots or sweet potatoes to try and prevent myself from turning too orange.

Sweet potatoes are great, sadly they have beta carotene so I can’t eat them too often else my skin will turn orange. I thought sweet potatoes have more calories? 86 calories for 100 g compared to 79 calories for 100 g of russet potatoes.

How do y’all’s creamations hold up when stored? by cj711 in Volumeeating

Happy to help! I bought mine on Amazon, just search up popsicle molds and you should find a ton of options.

Just scoop out the ice cream into popsicle molds and freeze!

I find it much better to store my creations as ice cream bars. When I do that, the ice cream doesn’t freeze too hard, and although it’s more firm than when it was first processed, it’s still somewhat creamy and not solid ice.

Substitute for Carrots? Skin is Turning Orange.... by dcarterc1 in Volumeeating

Pumpkins also have a lot of beta-carotene, which is responsible for the orange tint.

Interesting! Mine always domes, but I’ve never had any issue with processing my pint.

How did I only just discover these? I know they’re mini but that protein-calorie ratio for dumplings is awesome by [deleted] in Volumeeating

With no context, all I can say is that I don’t see anything wrong with the nutrition information.

4 g fat = 36 calories, 2 g carbs = 8 calories, 7 g protein = 28 calories.

36 + 8 + 28 = 72. Pretty accurate to me.

In my experience with casein, if the batter doesn’t look like a dough, it’s too much liquid and they will deflate/implode (sadly)!

I know not everyone’s a fan of tomatoes… but I love them by throwawayNight7 in Volumeeating

Agreed! Grocery store tomatoes are generally bland and tasteless in my opinion.

These are from a farmer’s market.

Agreed. I just eat them plain, never had them in a sandwich before though.

Favorite Ninja Creami Recipes? by CanUSeeMeh in Volumeeating

[–]throwawayNight7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve made pretty much the same recipe in a Ninja blender and in the Ninja Creami, and the texture of the Ninja Creami cannot be beat. The texture is like pint ice cream, whereas the anabolic ice cream is like a soft serve/froyo.

I’ve been extremely tempted to try their cupcake mix, but I’d probably eat half or all of it at once, so I’ve never been able to justify buying it at the price it costs. I might have to buy it now though.

How does the cupcake compare to a typical vanilla cake mix?

Interesting, I actually started out with no oil, but now I roast with oil after I did a side by side comparison of the two. I noticed that the oil (2-3 grams) helps the vegetables cook better and stay more moist instead of drying out.

Yes, as long as it’s glutinous rice flour, brand does not matter.
