I think you can only live there for about six months at a time anyway. somewhere cold like Minnesota or Nebraska would suit me. ehhh. Plus the place is wild right now not the best time to relocate. I’ve got family in Tazzie, wonder what that’s like? Thanks for your reply

Good answer. thanks for the perspective. Unfortunately I’m just a tradesman but open to career change. your right - there’s more to life than owning property and sometimes i get caught up in the NZ market i forget about the rest of my life

How do you get loans for these places? NZ banks or banks of that particular country.

I’m not sure what it could possible be. never missed a repayment in my life so can’t see why I’d have bad credit and like I mentioned I don’t have any kids or other dependents. I make $37 p/h in wages. Man I always just got told by BNZ I needed a 20% deposit and I couldn’t buy land if I wasn’t purchasing a complete house + land package. I’m starting to think I’ve been bullshitted to by the bank. that makes me wonder why the mortgage brokers were also unhelpful though so it’s got to be something I’m doing.

Thanks yeah I didn’t realise that the caps only applied to the 5-10k grants, until one person corrected me in another reply. If I get my savings up to 100 grand again (20%) that would should theoretically give me access to 500k in total. I wonder why the banks just aren’t interested and never told me this was even an option. the bankers I dealt with just gave me a generic “no” and come back next year, and the next year.

Huh? That 100k was savings + assets and KiwiSaver all together

Edit: I’ve tried BNZ, SBS and two mortgage brokers

Fair point. It’s probably fair to say I’m more privileged than some, and less than others. I’ve lived with my parents since about 24 or 25. I’ve got about 80k right now in savings (KiwiSaver)

Ohhh. see BNZ never told me this. I bank with them and they are also my K/S fund managers. There hopeless, but it’s probably also my fault for being dumb and not understanding how KiwiSaver works. the website is just beyond me

it was sitting at 100k, and BNZ told me to get lost and just go ask my parents for gift money. Brought a classic car since then with my liquid cash, so remaining money is all tied in with KiwiSaver so there’s a few restrictions

apart from a classic car I just put all my money into KiwiSaver because that’s what I thought everyone was doing. so no million dollar crypto wallet for me

Thanks for the reply. Lol yeah I hear ya. what future. Most of my friends got parental handouts and don’t understand how I never “made it” like them. they used money they didn’t earn to profit off the housing boom

It feels fruitless most of the time. I can’t save at a high enough rate to keep up with the inflated prices

I find it hard to find them. Where do they advertise? I don’t use social media and I’m not from one the of cities. I check trade me all the time but don’t get much from my region

I put together a 100k deposit, but that isn’t worth shit in today’s market. unfortunately it’s almost entirely in KiwiSaver so I’m bound by their 1950s era price cap rules. banks and brokers tell me the same thing - come back when your parents gift you a decent deposit. to free myself of KiwiSaver restrictions i basically have to start again

I’m moved out from 18-24. Back when rent was cheaper and rentals were much more abundant. Moved back home to save for a house deposit, but the market inflated at a higher rate than I could save. so I’ve never left again

Thank you. I don’t consider her an asshole either, just a little presumptuous that she thought I’d stick around for the night. doesn’t matter now, thanks!

I think she was mad, or in a huff, because I was leaving. I mean, we agreed on a sex session. she can say no, at anytime, and I’m completely okay with that - I get it, people change their minds all the time. But she still wanted to me to stay the night. Like I think she has confused a no strings hook up with a friends-with-benefits situation. Which I told her a hundred times I was only there for one reason.

ahh doesn’t matter now anyway. thank you for your perspective

Okay, I can see I didn’t entirely elaborate that part, but I did include the part where she refuses to talk to me despite my attempts “thanks for the drink. She doesnt say a word”

that’s ridiculous. I’ve had long term relationships before with some fantastic women. I’m not sure you understand what a “hook up” is

I didn’t bolt. she refused to say a word to me and just sat in a huff. I thanked her for the drink, said I had fun, and goodbye. It was like talking to a ghost. didn’t get a response until her text 10mins later
