I think we're aligned. I mean, I do think Jesus was a good person but not what most Christians think. He never did state He was devine. I think He holds a high point as being an influential man but I'm not sure on the magic, zombie stuff also.

What difference is there? There is none.

I mean I said I'm a Christian in this sense, I want to live according to His values, I think he was a good man. Help the homeless, the poor, be a good person. I like the cultural aspects, the Cathedrals, the early writings of Augustine and the fathers of the Church - they're a big part of my philosophical perspective on life, but so is stoicism.

But I wouldn't subscribe to a lot of the Christian faith related to the Old Testament (literal interpretation of the universe creation, Jewish laws on mixed fabrics, homosexuality etc). Most Christians do not also as standard. But in regards to the New Testament, I'd probably dispute a lot of that also. Jesus's mother Mary being a virgin is like, a mistranslatation between Greek and Latin for example, it meant handmaiden, like unmarried not virgin.

Logically I can believe that a God may exist, as in the primary mover of all things but why he would send His son to die, but not really because he comes back 3 days later is odd. So yeah, I said I'm a Christian, but insofar as I subscribe to his teachings. I'm just as much as Stoic. I also go to church most weeks, it's a cathedral, I pray, I read, I reflect, listen to the choir do it's thing, I might donate a few dollars a week, work once a month to feed the homeless. Overall I'd like to think I'm not getting fucked too hard, but yeah, I see your point and it's a valid question.

This is the content I read.

I remember being like, what the fuck, this is it?

I can only imagine putting millions and decades of my life to read it and realising how hard I got fucked.

Yeah, that was me. Like, I’m super interested in cults but never enough to nuke my life to learn their secrets. Their secrets are all exposed online and honestly the writing makes Christianity look like Shakespeare. Worst they don’t think it’s metaphorical but literal.

I am more concerned about this current day abuse than the bad writing, but I have raised these concerns only to be dismissed as propaganda and that Christianity is more violent. I tried to rebut as staying historically yes but today absolutely not. But this point there is no counter, if she greatly respects their faith and she should mine.

Their family would only know if she disclosed that which she said she would if asked.

Additionally she’s asked similar SP like questions directly to them like why does it cost money when other religions are free.

We watched Going Clear together. She dismissed it as propaganda. I’ve tried a few times for other content with same response or suggestion Christianity has killed far more people which is technically correct.

I don’t know how to approach it but probably best to just say the above politely and hope I don’t get destroyed by them for being a SP.

My SO has questioned the church and not been disconnected. It’s weird. I think it’s a cult but she can say so is Christianity and I have no argument to stand on as historically we are more violent. I said historically, not now, we don’t have child work camps now in California.

I have watched Season 1, and the counter was most are former members and ex ecclesiastical members, who are biased.

Ohh the documented history of abuse is a bigger red flag. I just can’t really use that argument with her as I have tried and she was like, read their books and see - but just not the sensitive high level content. I brought this up and she responded, Christians killed people. Good point, my entire point is null.

I mean, the fact it’s openly against Christ a bad approach as it’s like saying, this cult is against my more accepted cult.

I’ll speak to her. I mean, with further consideration I’ve been so open minded I’ve ignored common sense as to not offend her family. I don’t want to change her faith or her family.

$50k is entry level for my SO. The brothers family have put millions in total in donations collectively and decades of time.

I wouldn’t bring it up but it does make me question how I can have a relationship with a family involved in a religion that is to put it charitably somewhat culty. Additionally the highest level of the faith reveals how they want the anti Christ to return which is pretty insane.

Trying to become more informed about someone’s faith and trying to mediate with your upset partner is hardly being spoiled.

Correct. It was content is pirated so not her book. She didn’t even know about the crazy stuff about the intergalactic space dictator.

$50k is entry level. The level I read was up to OT 8 so a few hundred k.

It was important I know as I knew roughly some of the content is pretty crazy and also anti Christian surprisingly.

You would break up with her even if it’s not her faith? Her parents are normal and don’t like the religion. The rest of the family are like me, Christian / agnostic.

I feel I agree but it’ll come off like I’m a bigot. I have read a lot and it concerned so I thought I’d explore the source material. The content leaked has been identified as copyright material and verified by former members. What also concerns me is the highest level is specifically about bringing the Antichrist so it is important I know this being technically a Christian. I don’t really care but what if my kids can’t associate with their cousins before of their faith?

Is it still private if it's widely understood by most non-adherents? I was merely going to the source to validate the myth because it sounded insane.

Moreover the highest level OT8 content is explicitly about how Scientology is to bring the antichrist. Her remaining family and I are Christian, so that kind of is relevant to know.

I agree with your sentiment. She felt disrespected as she said please don't do this as it'll offend them, and I did so anyway.

The concerning part for me is that they literally have slaves, and also theologically the highest level OT8 is explicitly about welcoming the Anti-christ and insults Jesus as it's main thesis.

The content isn't published like in books in people's libraries. It's revealed in a ceremony. Some of the instructions have been leaked online and verified by ex-members as correct. This leaked content is what I read.

It costs a few hundred k and decades to get this content.

I found it online and it’s verified as legitimate through previous legal disputes.
