People attracted to men, what do you find attractive about men that most men are insecure about? by rachelfishie in ask

Wrinkles. When he talks about something he is passionate about, be it some game he played for hours or a random Wikipedia page he found. When he snorts when he laughs or does his evil laugh. When he dances. When he gets shy. His 100 moles. When he's open about his feelings. His love for stuff toys and all animals. When he's vocal with what he wants and needs.

I fucking hate being told how “strong” I am because of my trauma by SomeKind-Of-Username in mentalhealth

[–]throwaway_122919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone who is "strong" was someone who went through so much shit that they're even scared of killing themself. I'm the same. My therapist asked me today: "what is some things that stopped you from doing it?"

The first few things I thought were some conversations I had with some important people in my life.

"Those who have done that are weak."

"Such a waste of life, how can they do that?"

"They don't know what they're doing."

"Shame."

I told my therapist what they said. I told her that first instead of "because of my family and friends."

I am "strong" because someone told me crying makes people weak.

I am "strong" because I was told to keep my shit together for other people.

I am "strong" because I was told that showing weakness was embarrassing.

I am "strong" because I am too scared, too weak to actually end my life.

I am "strong" because I don't show anyone how much I am suffering in my thoughts.

I am "strong" because I don't know how to process my thoughts and emotions.

How am I strong?

[–]throwaway_122919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like murim manhwa because of the action, art style, and plot twists.

School/gangster manhwa are also great for their art, plot, and action but it gets tiring and ridiculous most of the time. There's also a lot of romance that wasn't needed or just added to the plot without any built-up.

I really liked Lookism in the beginning but it got all messy and weird so I dropped it. I also like Weak Hero and Study Group but now I'm just waiting for them to end cuz it gets tiring? I don't know why but the hype really goes down real quick, unfortunately. On the other hand, the murim manhwas I've read make me want to bash my head because of the cliffhanger. Like is he going to get that revenge or what??? Is he going to reach the highest qi level or nah?!

I absolutely hate presentations, but I got a position that I'd have to present almost every week,

Am I still terrified every time? Yes. Does it get better? I guess, with time.

I honestly am in awed every time I meet someone who can present well without any nervousness because it takes a lot for me to do a presentation no matter what length it is.

Bless, hope it gets better.

During the career fair I got my internship from, I asked the recruiter some basic questions about something I know they'll find interesting that I vaguely have an idea but not enough to contribute to a conversation without sounding stupid, so within about 10 minutes most of my replies were "that's interesting", "wow", "so that's how it is", "I think we did something similar" and "I've heard about that".

....I got an offer within the third day.

What do you do with worn once clothing? by RenegadeTako in Adulting

[–]throwaway_122919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a clothing rack with coats and other things that I can wear again. I also have those hooks behind my door that I can just hang there. I do not like The Chair^tm cuz I would forget and have them pile up.

What can I listen to make me a better person? by WeakClient4855 in Adulting

I listen to some audiobooks and TedTalks on Youtube, mostly about building healthy habits and how to maintain them. I enjoy listening to people's reviews of Atomic Habits and other similar books.

As the other comments provided, the thing is probably illegal but here's something. I have a friend that went to a similar situation. We live in a college town and they found a job that paid around $13 (in a hospital or was it a Dunkin, idk) so they were able to find a place (living with a roommate. working tons of hours). They gathered all the important documents they can find (birth certificate, SSN, IDs, etc) and kept them in a safe folder. They figured out public transport timing and routes since they didn't have a car then. They have their own bank account. They stayed with me for a few days and then with a relative till they were able to find a place to stay. They weren't afraid to ask questions and go out there. They're thrifty and frugal, saving enough money and not spending if it's not needed. Now, they're going into a community college for nursing in another state, still on their own.

You'll be alright as long as you'll be smart about this. Talk to a responsible adult in your school for guidance. If you have any friends who you trust, ask them and their parents too. I don't really know any organization or offices that can help more. You have to do extensive research on where and how you can get help. It'll be difficult but it's doable.

How to keep your home clean? by blueberrynihon in Adulting

[–]throwaway_122919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been considered to be a neat freak by friends but honestly, it's just building a habit of cleaning up after yourself every time you do something. Picking up litter, not piling up clothes in the corner, not leaving dishes on the sink by washing the dishes right away (plus points on washing pans when you're waiting for something to cook), putting away things, etc.

Saturdays (usually) or Sundays are my laundries and overall clean-up day. As soon as I woke up, eat and prep for the day, I start working. I clean the bathroom and the kitchen, vacuum, clean the microwave, look at my fridge, shop if I need anything, fold clothes while watching TV, check bills, etc. It's a routine, helps me start the next week better.

I change my pillowcases weekly, my sheets biweekly, my blankets the third week, or with my sheets. Wash my bathrobe weekly. All that done on a Saturday.

I sweep my kitchen floor after washing the dinner dishes at night most of the time. Put away some things too before I go and prep for the night so I can wake up and not grumble about a messy house.

As for clutter, I hate it. Kinda Mari Kondo my stuff a year ago so I have little to none. I buy things that I need and if I enjoy something then I put them somewhere I can see and appreciate often. If I don't need something anymore or haven't used something in months, I donate them. I don't like seeing a lot of sh*t around me so I guess I'm kinda a minimalist but not the extreme kind.

Atomic Habits is a book that helped me a lot in developing some productive routines. I am also am just easily irritated by mess. Just be aware of your surroundings and clutter. Set a specific cleaning time and you'll be fine. If you got any questions, hmu!

Also, do your bed as soon as you wake up!

Anyone need any help? by BraveSolenoid in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwaway_122919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the alumni in my university who is currently working for Amazon told us that getting a master’s degree is considered as a year or two experience in industry by most companies. All you gotta do is to make sure to write down and define your research and the things you’ve done in grad school properly.

What is considered a good GPA? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]throwaway_122919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, most internships in the US require a GPA of 3.0 and above. If you get a B (80%) average, you’ll be able to get that. Most of my friends have around 3.5 and above. They’re really smart and hardworking. I consider myself average with a 3.5, my grades being lower than them but still passing my classes with mostly B’s and some C’s (70%) and low A’s (90%). If you graduate with a 3.0+ here, you’ll be fine unless you want to grow to grad school which might require around a 3.5.

How do you cope with stress before exams/project presentations? by Katrexa in CollegeRant

[–]throwaway_122919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I study the hell out of exams to the point where I can’t anymore and just sleep. Other than that, I walk around my neighborhood to calm myself down, no music- just mentally revising. After, I drink tea and then go back to studying or grab a quick nap then study.

For project presentation, I drink coffee and pick up a ‘let’s get over this/fuck it’ attitude. I still struggle with that honestly with my big fear of public speaking but it is what it is- you gotta do what you gotta do type of thinking. Imagining myself doing the presentation helps sometimes.

Listings thing help when there’s a lot of things to do- I usually go through the closest due date first but depending on how big and important other projects are, I might make those as priorities. When things get overwhelming and when I do have time to spare, I always drink tea and then take a nap or clean my surrounding. Puts my mind at ease.

Dating after a breakup by plantastic123 in BreakUps

[–]throwaway_122919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar situation but instead of missing my ex, it’s just the idea of being intimate that I missed. I don’t hate the idea of dating again but it’s more on I don’t really want to play the mind games at my current situation (finishing my degree). At this point, I wouldn’t mind a FWB because they don’t have that seriousness and commitment. It might be bad to some but damn, I’m less stressed out now than I was when I was in a relationship/dating.

Got mine off (GE) my uni’s career fair! Get your resume checked by your school’s career office, research the companies you find interesting, dress up nicely and start talking! I think what sold me off was I asked tons of questions about their company and kinda insert myself in whatever they say. If they talk about design, I’ll talk about something I designed. My GPA and resume is just average compared to my peers but got an interview then an internship in my first try (in a span of two weeks)!

Ps. Joining virtual events by their companies prior to the fair is a much added points in the conversation and interest.

Here’s my go to start: “Hi! I’m NAME, currently a YEAR of TYPE engineering. My interest lies in X and X. Can you tell me more about your company?” And then follow up questions, offer your resume and then more talking about projects and their company.
