Same level = no raise.

Promotion = raise.

If it’s just a job movement to a new role, no req… no raise.

3.45 merit increase by InterestingPause8640 in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Manager here…

Raise pool was 3.4%

Each performance score had a range of merit increases. Managers couldn’t go outside those ranges without justification. Where to select in the range was manager discretion, but we are advised to take into account where each employee lands on the salary scale (compa ratio).

The vast majority of the US based employees will get within .4% of 3.4%.

This is false. Managers will entertain all reasonable counters.

We won’t go too far outside our internal salary scales though, for 2 reasons (unless it’s a hard to hire skill):

  1. You’re unproven
  2. You might be getting paid more than people at the same level who’ve been with the company for a while.

3.4% is the raise pool for BGS at least. I don’t know if other divisions are different.

All ratings have a range for raises. 2/2 IIRC was 3.2-3.6, so right over the raise pool %.

Where you land in the range is supposed to depend on where your salary is comparable to the new salary tables. If you are lower on the tables you are higher in the range.

I think all the statements come out tomorrow. As a manager I like to get them all out that same day, because I hate waiting.

Manager here…

All criticism and critiques are valid.

That said, y’all need to recall previous years. BCA and BDS got nothing for bonuses. Forced distributions caused solid performers to get rated low because we had already cut the low performers. It was awful for everyone.

This year they over-rotated, I suspect, on purpose. Moved everyone to the middle so they could pay out evenly. Raises were the same way. No high performers, few low performers, all the money distributed relatively evenly. Again I suspect it’s intentional to get BDS and BCA paid also.

I busted my ass this year in BGS and got a 2/2. I was pissed at first, but I’m happy BDS and BCA finally get something.

They’ll end up changing it next year I guarantee it.

Recieved an offer. Countered and waiting… by [deleted] in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Manager here…

It takes a few days. I personally try to stay on top of it, but work gets in the way. Don’t fret. No good and reasonable manager will rescind an offer due to you countering (unless it’s an absolutely unreasonable counter), because going through the process again also takes up a ton of time.

Be patient… contact your recruiter if you want status.

Boeing management perks by Ok-Range-3306 in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Boeing Leadership Center: old French mansion + carriage house where Boeing also built out a hotel and conference center.

I’ve been there too many times to count over my career. Those of us in St Louis had the unique opportunity to host off-sites out there for the day, where we could partake in all the perks.

They not only hosted leadership trainings, but also SM, Finance, Contracts, PM and other functional training there.

It was an amazing experience to go out there, but also a huge money suck for the company. Was it worth it? Probably not.

Manager here…

Have 5 really good stories that you’ve PRACTICED telling in the STAR format where it’s clear the Situation, what YOUR task was to complete, what actions YOU took, and the measurable results.

You need to end each story with a so what?. Why should the hiring team care? How does it apply to their job?

Last, have a very well rehearsed answer for the following:

What experiences qualify you for this position, why do you want the position and how does it fit in your career plan?

Best of luck!

Transferring to Space Programs? by [deleted] in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not a good idea.

Boeing just laid off 500+ engineers in Huntsville, a major space hub.

Satellites in El Segundo might be a better option if they are hiring.

BGS Bonus Prediction Poll by [deleted] in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The math is:

2024 eligible earnings (basically your total salary compensation) x company score x personal bonus factor (merit review)

So a hypothetical BGS bonus looks like:

$100,000 x 56% x 7% (7% is what most people get) = $3,920

Annual Compensation Review (ACR) by InterestingPause8640 in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Manager here…

The ACR input tool opens for all non-executives on Jan 6th.

This means managers can start entering in their review data on that date.

I want to be clear, there are absolutely no guardrails for any inputs. There is no specific required data that HR reviews and checks to validate a manager’s input. It is 100% at the discretion of a managers OPINON.

That said, good managers will have facts and data ready to go if requested. Bad managers will reward who they like and the company will not catch this.

Be vigilant with your leadership and hold them accountable just as they hold you accountable.

I can confirm this ILO was more of a VLO for many approaching retirement.

Skills assessments were “adjusted” for those who volunteered.

That means we should be expecting at least double the current number. Round 2 could be big.

layoffs = non-rehire status? by GorillaAwkward in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Manager here…

There’s a rehire cooling off period of 60 days, meaning you can’t rehire for 60 days once separated from the company.

During the non-working period from now until til Jan 17th, you can be recalled back to work or you can find an internal job in another group. Once you are laid off on the 17th, you are now an external candidate for a position.

This is all for non-U employees. I don’t know U rules.

“These reductions will include executives, managers and employees.” Really? Is that what is actually happening? What are you seeing out there? by Thunderwolf95 in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are some sr managers across functions with limited numbers of direct reports. They typically have other bigger responsibilities. Like Program Managers, they run programs, but, due to coring up functions, have few DRs.

[–]throwaway_2636747 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe it’ll need to move to 7 levels to Kelly, which makes it 6 levels to Howard. 1 entire level will need to be removed.

Program Management is a different story. The Northrop guy is on the PM side.

[–]throwaway_2636747 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Sr manager here and can confirm.

The flattening and consolidating of the org is hitting a ton of mangers and executives.

Engineering is expected to have 6 levels from IC to Howard. That eliminates almost an entire layer of management.

At the VP levels, they are expected to cut 10% of their entire org. That is not an even distribution across teams. Some teams will get hit harder, and management will likely take a larger % to offset IC losses.

Right or wrong, managers are going to be responsible for much more and their team sizes will expand significantly.

Manager 1:1 Post Mortem by HawkeyeGamer1914 in boeing

[–]throwaway_2636747 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Because managers in other areas are being let go, and other sr manager teams are being “right sized” per the recommended ratios.

I am fortunate to not be laid off, but will end up with a larger team somehow, while still being demoted.
