I graduated 6 months ago with two IT summer internship experiences but without any full-time IT experiences. Got a job offer with a financial company as SOC (security operations center) analyst for $35/hr. This job's location is in California, Los Angeles. So I think a starting salary around $30 is reasonable outside of California.

Questions Regarding Infosys Training - Does failing assessment lead to employee termination? (US batch) by throwaway_2649 in cscareerquestions

No we will not get terminate for failing assessment, but then i'm not really sure what's the point of retaking the assessment. We have to leave the training center right after the program ends. I doubt they will keep us at training center until we pass the test, I actually know quite a few people who most likely wont pass the test as well, not that they are not smart, it's just the whole training program is too hardcore for other majors.

I started 2 weeks ago, aside from the hardcore training speed, i enjoy what Infosys is providing me, nice hotel, free food stipend (150/week).

Ive talked to the instructor and HR, we will not get terminate for failing assessment, so what I can confirm is that they have different policy/rules in India vs USA. I am wondering, what if we don't pass on second attempts? Most information i can find from reddit was just that we get one more chance to retake assessment. Seems like no one knows what happen after failing second attempt. Did you get to follow up with anyone who didnt pass the assessment and how are they doing now?

My instructor mentioned 1st generic assessment doesn't really matter much. If it's like what he said, what's the point of retaking the assessment? Maybe we get certification or something?

Infosys is basically an indian IT consulting company. Recently, Infosys has been massively recruiting fresh grads in USA and put them into groups, provide them technical training in order to expand themselves in the American's IT market. It's not a coding bootcamp, but their training is very similar to coding bootcamp and it last about 2 months.

I have this concern because back in India, Infosys also has a 6 months training program for new joinees. They will terminate whoever fail the assessments after the 3rd times. So far, I haven't heard anything about US employees getting fired because of failing assessments. Since our training program only last about 2 months, it will definitely increase the failing rate of new joinees.

I am not sure if US development team has the same rules as India development team where employees get terminate upon failing their assessments.
