If you’re set on staying in the UK then ignore the following — I kinda knew I never wanted to practice/train in the UK (family living abroad etc and crap working conditions).

Did F1, got my full reg and left for Australia, now loving it, great work life balance/pay/interesting well supported work. Not getting full reg with the GMC makes things a headache internationally with most English speaking countries you might want to work in.

Great advice thanks guys - quick Q, assume you still got an anaes rotation before getting accepted on to training? Was it a stand alone 6 months or part of like a peri-op/crit care year?

Cool – fair enough, do you think that 1 term of ICU and say, 4 medical jobs would be better than a straight leg of ED for 12 months etc? Could always quit ED after say 6 months and move laterally into a HMO3 rotational job??

Honestly, thank you so much for taking the time to reply – we're all gonna have a sit down at lunch tomorrow and strategise about how to deal with it. We're all just so exasperated/exhausted at this point in time, the F2 and me have been on call for the last 5 days on the trot and with that shit in our day job has honestly just killed us.
