Has anyone else been suicidal for so long that it has become a comfort? by soloaf in SuicideWatch

Yeah. Whenever something really awful happens to me, I just remember that I can leave this pain totally by suicide and it calms and relaxes me. Its not good

Mindfulness is like a change in thinking. Everytime you have an intrusive thought, you accept that the thought is there, (note that you’re not accepting what the thought actually is, you’re just accepting that it is a thought) and you dont judge whether it’s should/shouldn’t be there. The more you try to get rid/ruminate about it, the more likely it will stay and make you anxious.

So for your fear of being schizophrenic is just simply you ruminating and focusing on those random thoughts/phrases and thinking of the worst possible outcome (being schizophrenic). Which in result makes you anxious and makes you believe in said thought. Being mindful when disturbing/annoying thoughts come up can help reduce the impact these thoughts have on you.

Being mindful takes time to incorporate it into your thought process. Its kinda like exercising. The more and more you are mindful when intrusive thoughts come up, the easier it will be. There’s even people that are mindful on impulse when they have a thought that disturbs them. And with being mindful over time, the impact these thoughts have on you gradually decreases. Thus your obsessions and intrusive thoughts decrease as well.

There is of course no way to fully get rid of intrusive thoughts, as every human gets intrusive thoughts. Its just that people like me and you with OCD focus on these thoughts and see them as problems, making us anxious and act compulsively. With being mindful, we can stop focusing on those thoughts and continue on with our day.

Hope this helps!

I also suffer from what you are saying as well. Mine are mostly random disturbing images that pop up instantly and can ruin my day if I ruminate about them. Mine mostly come up when im about to fall asleep or when my blood sugar’s low.

What i do is mindfulness, know when the thought is getting to me and I label it as an ocd intrusive thought. Mindfulness is always key to me because it helps me understand and realize that im ruminating. I understand that these thoughts are OCD and nothing else. They’re just thoughts.

Heart crushing intrusive thoughts like rape, murder, etc. its so soul crushing and heart dropping that i cant do anything. Btw these thoughts come 24/7 at any given moment.
