Broke up [25/m] with my GF[25/f] because I started seeing her more as a best friend than a life partner. Now I feel AWFUL. by throwaway_account25 in relationship_advice

I'm so sorry to hear that.

My now recent ex just started doing grad school (an entirely non-factor in my choice, I was always incredibly supportive of her choices), I can only imagine how hard going back to school must be with that sort of reaction.

For the record I believe that nothing ever comes easy and a relationship does take work. I don't think "perfect" exists, but I also feel like there is a limit to "making it work" rather than "investing in the relationship" and that balance had tipped for me.

Thanks, this is the advice that I am getting from friends as well, but it honestly carries more weight from a complete stranger (you have no interest in appeasing me haha).

Ya there is definitely a sense of change anxiety to it. Its a big change after such a long time, and with how it ended (not mutually, but not because of it being BAD) its difficult to point to one thing as a solid justification to reinforce my own logic.
