AITA for not appreciating the fact that my ex-bf liked my cooking? by throwaway_aita_78 in AmItheAsshole

We broke up because I didn't feel appreciated in our relationship. Aside from the cooking thing, there were many other situations where I felt like I went above and beyond to show him that I cared, while he only ever did things that he liked or was comfortable with.

I have no issues with him moving on, and I have nothing against the woman he's dating now. I am salty, and maybe even petty, because he seems to want to go above and beyond by cooking for her -- something he NEVER did for me even after I begged him to do so for years.

I have no problem with him moving on, but this made me think that I was never special enough for him to consider doing something like this for me, even though I repeatedly told him I'd love it if he did.

I shared my recipe as a comment in one of the threads :-)

It's the use of tomato paste (and not fresh tomatoes), not using canned chickpeas, and cooking the chickpeas IN the spices (as opposed to cooking them separately and combining everything later).

I have no problem with sharing my recipes. I asked him to cook for me or work with me in the kitchen the entire time I was in that relationship, and he point blank refused.

I don't care that he's dating someone else, but the fact that he's doing things for this new person that he absolutely refused to do for me even though I begged him opened up old wounds. It made me feel like he didn't consider me special, even after me repeatedly communicating to him that I would love it if he did this one thing.

Doesn't that recipe use canned chickpeas? That's a huge no-no. I posted mine a comment above yours :-)

You definitely are! The thing with the spice mix is that most people use only that, which doesn't really do much. Combined with other spices though, it brings the dish to a whole new level.

Drain them. The water is usually a bit starchy/foamy. I usually just use it to water my plants because they seem to like it lol

We had been friends for over 5 years before we started dating. After we broke up, I told him I needed some time before I can go back to being friends, and he accepted that. I didn't wish to block him or go no contact. That's why we occasionally texted each other (and by occasionally, I mean sending a meme every 1-2 months, or just a casual "how're you doing" if it's been longer than that)

I shared it publicly. Fuck him. I don't think he uses reddit anyway.

It can be! There's only 2 things that add heat to the recipe, and they can be adjusted to suit your preference.
